I haven't run down Strong in this thread, man. I actually think he's a terrific coach (hell, he was on my short list just below Sumlin when we were in our last coaching search). But let's be honest, Strong isn't a "name" coach like Saban or Urban Meyer. Not yet, but he has an excellent resume.
All that matters and what he'll be judged on from here on out is what he's able to do or not do at Texas. If he succeeds, his previous stints will be seen as building blocks. If he fails, he'll be regarded as not having been ready for big time. That's about as objectively as you can look at it.

Confirmation wasn't needed.
The bitter trail is long and well documented.
An unfortunate waste of energy for you.

When TAMU wins yet another SEC Ags&Bacon affair, our boy Stone will not take it well

The rest of your post only mentioned recruiting. It's a big part of coaching, but let's not pretend that BCS games and conference championships are irrelevant data. That's how he got the Texas job in the first place so it's hardly irrelevant.

For the current situation, they really don't have much bearing going forward.

That's about the only way it's relevant. His success at his previous stops doesn't mean it's a slam dunk for him to win right away at texas, and recruits (the lifeblood of coaching) really aren't going to base their decision to come to texas off what he did at L'ville.
I think he'll do fine, though, if given a long enough leash by the texas AD.

Aggies lost the annual game with us from all the NCAA sanctions during the period they keep referring to as their glory years. 7 Years of NCAA sanctions, lack of institutional control in '88 and '94, 2 years of bowl bans, and a year of TV ban from the NCAA violations A&M committed between 1983-1992( LINK / ) is why we stopped the series. Those violations earned A&M the title of 3rd dirtiest program of all time title and combined with SMU's death penalty killed the SWC.
Its funny how people always bring up how many teams in the SWC from that period were under sanctions, and conveniently leave out how the NCAA infractions committee was controlled by a Texas grad. No conference has ever been so penalized for beating one team in the history of the NCAA. They even granted Texas retroactive immunity for all past infractions, known or unknown; a unique event in all of college sports.

Yup. The entire SWC was dirty, but the protection texas received was (and is) mind - boggling.

If I were Patterson at UT I would have hired Mike Leach. I think Leach is the best coach in the country that isn't at a major program. Crying shame that he got roasted for keeping Craig James' kid in a dark room like the doctor ordered.

Mike Leach would never put up with UTex.
Talk about a miserable fit.

Yeah great call on Mike Leach not wanting the Texas job, a position widely regarded as the best coaching job in America.
Aggy bein aggy.

Yes y'all definitely proved that in January.

The subject of this thread is the pissing contest of Texas vs A&M. If you want to sit back and pontificate about only aggy and how great they will be, I suggest you sign up for Texags.
Here's a valid question and I'm curious to see some of these responses: who wins more games next year, Texas or A&M?
