Please reference where I stated Walker was the better player. My arguement is built around someone saying Alfano is the best DL prospect and it ain’t even close.

Try again.

As it stands currently, the players they are now, Alfano is the best DL in the country and it isnt that close. Leal is closest but mostly upside. Walker is all upside. Smith is an OLB so i dont count him. Lets talk about in 3-4 years.

I was sure 247 had none other than Alabama's own Antonio Alfano ranked way too high, but I think I might be wrong.

Yes, he played on a mediocre team in a mediocre league while other kids are competing against the very best in the country. His highlights look like what I'd imagine Gulliver playing the Lilliputians would look like (running over 5'8" left tackles and such).

But the kid looked very good in AA game practices and drills, although I don't remember him being called much in the game.

Question for the Bama fans: What do you expect from this Alfano? Will he see some time, become a star, or just redshirt and wait his turn?

Poor puppies. We really broke you didn't we. I mean ruined your season and then when you thought you had some sliver of hope because your great insiders had you taking every 5 star in the country including Sanders and Neal reality once hit again and realized your team is in the same situation it was under Richt.

Walker is more polished and a bit faster to the ball. His fundamentals and technique are solid, . He doesn't look quite as strong as Alfano, but he's quicker, better in space, and he's got the frame to put on weight and add strength.

They're both high motor guys, but Alfano looks scary aggressive like Clubber Lang. I think they're listed as the same height and weight, but Alfano looks a lot bigger.

Haven't heard about Alfano, but I know Walker is definitely a high character kid.

You would be wrong about that.

If anything, Alfano is a better athlete than Walker.

His combine numbers back that up.

Alfano

quote:

Skills

-Point of Attack 10
-First Step 10
-Athleticism 10
-Frame 10
-Hand Quickness 9
-Pursuit 9
-Closing Speed 9
-Instincts 8

Walker

quote:

Skills

-Versatility 10
-Motor 9
-Athleticism 9
-Hand Quickness 9
-Explosiveness 9
-Size 9
-Point of Attack 8
-Strength 8

Walker weighed in 14 pounds heavier than Alfano at the All-American Game.

There's no fail in that statement. Just look at their tape.

Not for nothing, this board is so rife with trolls that everything looks like trolling to folks. It's tragic.

You do know he played for Bergan Catholic as a 9th and 10th grader right? Bergen Catholic is probably a top 50 football program in the nation and plays the best competition in the Northeast its as good a competition as you will find outside of the very very elite(South Florida, Houston and a few other areas)

same situation it was under Richt.

Richt never made it to a natty or the playoff and never recruited this well. While UGA went to back to back SECC, richt was basically fired at Miami. You acting like richt was fired for his success in his early years is just as stupid as OP’s recruiting rankings troll. As a UGA fan I’m happy with Smith, just like as a bama fan you’re happy with your guy. Neither of us will know who is more impactful until the season gets here and even then it’ll just be the Chubb/gurley vs LF/guice debate all over.

It's not like our recruiting class is bad. I'm incredibly happy about it.

Alfano is going to be a beast. I look for him to push Ray for a starting spot right out of the gate, and Ray is a dang good player.

He's the classic diamond in the rough, but a diamond nonetheless. With good coaching I expect him to contribute early.

He isn't a hidden gem, he is the best DE we have signed since Jonathan Allen.

Aggression is an intangible and it can’t be taught. Either a guy is mean when he gets between the lines or he isn’t. Alfano wants to dominate his opponent. I think he ends up playing inside for us. He’s the new beeed of DT.
