Alabama Fans: Few questions regarding some recruits...

1) I know RaShaan Evans is visiting Alabama this weekend. How full is this year's linebacker class for Alabama, and would he be a take if it wasn't full yet? If he isn't a take, who are the linebacker recruits to keep an eye on ahead of him?
2) What's the latest with Josh Casher and Jordan Sims? I saw where Alabama might offer, and take, Jordan Sims based on his first few games next year, and that he had lost weight and performed well at the latest camp. I also read that Jordan Sims has initiated contact with the Florida staff about a potential offer there. Also, is Josh Casher a take at this point? And what are the odds of Alabama passing on both for more coveted prospects higher on their board?
Thanks.

We have 3 LBers committed already (SDH, Miller, and Whitley) and are pressing hard for Raekwon "Chef Bubble" McMillan, so I don't know if Evans could commit if he wanted to. With Lorenzo Carter still in the mix I don't think Evans will be a part of this class.

Don't want either one of them to be honest.

quote:I like the sound of that. If Alabama is out of the mix, Auburn would only have real competition with UCLA and Georgia. Kieth Niebuhr has stated that Auburn is coming on strong, so I guess we'll see what happens.
I don't think Evans will be a part of this class.

Thanks for the input!

There's about 2 spots left, one inside and one outside. Last I had read Evans had said something about Bama recruiting him as a Rover, which I assume he got his terms mixed up for DE/OLB. Hand and Zo Carter are the top candidates outside, the latter being more likely than the former. Raekwon McMillan and Tre Williams are the top inside targets, but the former is more likely in this case.
I think Bama already took a similar style player in Miller, who is a bit better of a prospect. Both high upside at likely hybrid linebacker positions. Evans has better speed and burst, Miller has better experience with coverage, and both have bloodlines of SEC or NFL fathers.
Personally I think Sims isn't gonna get offered a spot, I think that might have been a nice way of letting him down. Ross Pierschbacher is wavering with his Iowa commitment, and he is higher on the board than Sims has ever been. Pierschbacher can play every position on the line, so that leaves an out for another Guard.
I don't really know what to think on Casher. Some would believe Bama would be his destination after his de-commitment, but it doesn't feel right. Not to say I wouldn't want him in the class, just that it's really murky for the last few OL spots. There are a few moves that haven't went down to clear up the picture, like Pierschbacher making a decision. I could see him easily picking FSU, there are school and family ties there and he is a great fit in Trickett's ZBS.

We will gladly take Evans, McMillan, and Carter so as to free up any confusion in the Yellowhammer state

quote:Yeah, it seems Alabama has bigger needs, and Auburn may be moving on.

He better hope his next choice is his final, though. His recruitment has been a roller coaster thus far.

They still want Williams, it just isn't gonna happen. McMillan has been the top target inside for a while, but they wouldn't turn down Williams at any point IMO. Foster was essentially the only true MLB last class, and Bama loses a few after this season.
Sims sounds like he's prepared to wait out a Bama offer, even if it doesn't come. Worked out for Jon Cook last year, so it could happen for him too. AL-MS All Star game seems to be a last chance for instate guys.
Just the fact Casher is waiting as long as he is, even if for the right reasons, makes it hard to pencil him in. 8-9 spots left, and there are some superior players out there...

I don't understand why he's all of a sudden so linked to Alabama. Regardless, where does he even fit. The LB class is filling up quick.
As for Casher and Sims. I want both. I'm probably in the minority, but I don't think we're going to get Damien Mama or any other interior OL we're after. I want to finish with Casher and Sims, both very good in-state guys. I think we would end up regretting no taking Casher in a few years. And then Cameron Robinson as the center-piece of the OL class.

Pellini might not see it that way
I think Cook was a take the whole way based on talent, coaches just needed to see his fall semester grades before pulling the trigger. I think with Sims it is more waiting to see what happens with others higher on our board.

Is Evans really 6'3"? He looks a lot shorter than that on film.
I will say, however, that that SOB looks like he is shot out of a cannon coming off the edge.

Is he fluid enough to stand up? All of his highlights are with his hand in the dirt.

I think Sims really impressed the staff with his willingness to work and get in shape. If he continues that progress through the fall, he's going to get the green light to commit.

quote:To some of the analysts at The Opening, he was the best LB there, and all LB did was play in space in 7on7. We're recruiting him for STAR, so our staff feels he's athletic/fluid enough for coverage responsibilities

Welp. You convinced me. I want him.

Yeah, his Opening performance is why 247 move him into the top 100.

No shame in coming in second place for someone in the Big10, that's a raise if anything

There was a bit of calamity at CB last year like there is with OL this year though. Had Burns, lost Burns, wanted White and Langley, didn't want White and Langley, Alexander is interested, Alexander is not interested, Ramsey isn't high on the board, Ramsey is high on the board, Ramsey is re-considering Bama because it's closer to home, but commits to FSU.

He is a violent hitter with CJ Mosley type range to me and a whole lotta room to grow
