Since it looks like we are either getting Pollard or nothing this cycle, I guess that will leave us with either 4 or 5 scholarships open next year.

But very few schollies for '14

Hold on why are we talking about 14? These guys are for 13

Green, Mitchell, Hankerson opened up spots for '12

Eblen and Steele open up spots for '13

Releford, Swede, and Gueye open spots for '14

Right?

LOL SImmons is a back to the basket big man. Ive seen Taylor play a couple times and he wont bang on offense. He will try that lil jump shot from around the free throw line sometimes though.

Pollard update

Time is running out for Devonta Pollard to make a decision. The late signing period officially ends next Wednesday, May 16. Sources close to Pollard say he’s still deciding between four finalists: Alabama, Georgetown, Missouri and Texas. TideNation reported last month that the decision would come down to the Crimson Tide and the Hoyas, but that has since changed since Georgetown assistant coach Robert Kirby, Pollard’s main recruiter, has joined the LSU coaching staff. Alabama remains in great shape with the ESPN 100 prospect, mainly because of his close relationship with UA head coach Anthony Grant.

sorry forgot to add in here:

Top three for Taylor

As Alabama waits for Pollard to round outs its 2012 class, the staff continues to look ahead to 2013. One of its priorities in next year’s class is keeping local big man Jimmie Taylor in state. Taylor, an ESPN Super 60 prospect, has seen his recruitment change over the past few months, and he has a new top three to show for it. In addition to Alabama, Taylor has Louisville and Vanderbilt on top, and he’s also looking at Georgia Tech. He says he’s no longer considering Georgetown and Kentucky. The 6-foot-10 junior could be close to a decision as he wants to choose a school before the summer, but he could still push it back.

On Alabama: “I’ve got a really good relationship with Coach Grant. It’s my home state, and it’s a good school. It would be a good place for me.”

On Louisville: “Rick Pitino, he’s a legendary coach. He compared me to Gorgui Dieng. He was telling me how he developed him, and he said I would be the same way if they put some weight on me.”

On Vanderbilt: “They’ve got a very good academic program, so if basketball doesn’t work out for me, I can get a degree from Vanderbilt and still make it in life. They’ve got a good basketball program, also.”

***A source instrumental in the decision-making process of five-star small forward Devonta Pollard indicates there’s no timetable for the De Kalb (Miss.) Kemper County standout’s commitment and signing. Pollard has publicly narrowed his choices to UA, Texas, Missouri, and Georgetown. The Hoyas began to fade a few weeks ago and LSU’s hiring of Pollard’s recruiter and Mississippi native Robert Kirby certainly doesn’t help their chances (there’s no indication LSU is a contender for Pollard). It was also reported that Missouri has used its last available scholarship on Tulsa transfer Jordan Clarkson, essentially signaling the Tigers are out of the running for Pollard. UA remains cautiously optimistic in what looks to be a battle with Texas. The signing period ends on May 16, so look for Pollard to have something finalized by that time.

Alabama landed it's second commitment of the class of 2013 on Friday night when Greensboro (Ala.) East power forward Jimmie Taylor pledged to the Crimson Tide and coach Anthony Grant.

The 6-foot-9, 220-pounder selected the Tide over a bevy of offers from the likes of Arkansas, Auburn, Georgetown, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Stanford, Tennessee, and interest from Kentucky.

Taylor, who is cousins with former UA star Erwin Dudley, released a top five of Alabama, Georgetown, Kentucky, Tennessee and Vanderbilt less than two weeks ago.

The Alabama native is the Crimson Tide's second commitment of the class of 2013, joining Arden (N.C.) Christ School PF Shannon Hale.

I'm going to wait for TideorDie's scouting report before I decide whether this is good news or not.
