He probably told them no thanks because he doesn’t want to follow Nelson.

Thats always kind of a red flag to me. You don't know if he told the staff he wants to go off for college, or if they have seen him more than anyone and know something. see Oklahoma not really recruiting David Cornwell that hard.

We didn't recruit Arch that hard. Does that mean he's dogshit?

I'm not saying its a definite sign, I'm saying you don't know the situation unless you have contacts on that team.

If Georgia called and asked LSU if he were dogshit, whats the incentive for LSU to tell the truth? If he sucks tell UGA he is the best thing since sliced bread and that he just wants to leave the state. Let someone else use up the NIL pie on him.

The local team will have seen him more than anyone. Thats why I think its at least something to consider.

I honestly think he's going to LSU Georgia is slow playing him and Sayin does want to come play for Georgia but Georgia is also looking at other big fish in 2024.

Dylan Raiola was a major target for us and we felt good but we went all in on Arch and whiffed for this cycle. He would be the only 24 qb that's better. Jayden Davis is now the target but he's trending to Michigan and we're trying to get in on the Lagway recruitment as well.

Other than that we're looking at Antwann Hill (Trey Hill's relative) in the 25 class and Juju Lewis in the 26 class.

A big selling point for UGA to QBs is Monken and I think recruits that far out probably realize he will likely be gone by the time they are starting for UGA

He might be. He's about to be the highest paid assistant if he's not already to keep him around for at least a few more years. It sounds like he only wants to leave for an OC spot in the NFL though.

UGA didn't land a top 2023 QB recruit (or will need someone to flip if they do). Getting a top 2024 recruit will be a need assuming nothing happens with the 2023 class.

UGA has:

Carson Beck (will be a RS JR next year)
Brock Vandagriff (will be a RS SO next year)
Gunnar Stockton (will likely be a RS FR next year)

so we're okay without a true freshman next year, but we'll need another 4-star or better QB the year after (particularly if someone transfers out).

If something odd were to happen like Arch Manning changing his mind and coming to UGA, 2024 wouldn't be a need at QB.

Hard to imagine all three stick around.

I think Brock goes. Beck will win the job next season as a Jr. then bolt to the draft. Gunner has always been the heir to the job.

UGA’s QB succession looks pretty set at this point. We’ll take a PWO in ‘23 if we take one at all, we’re about to land Ryan Puglisi for ‘24, Hill in ‘25 (his cousin Trey was a C at UGA) and Juju for ‘26.

Puglisi may only be a 3* and his competition level may be low, but both Monken and Saban offered him within 5 throws in person. I don’t see him as a starter in Athens, but a backup behind Gunner (team buzz has him making major strides towards winning the job in the spring) and Hill.

Sayin is BTR bound.

Are y’all not recruiting the Merklinger kid from Savannah at all? Looks like he’s our #2 guy for 24 if we can’t snag Lagway from out in Texas

Savannah is my hometown and I know his family. Good player, but Calvary plays single A ball and his competition isn't great. I think he's down the board a good ways behind Puglisi, Jaydn Davis from Charlotte, and Sayin. I think that's the top of our QB board. Lagway was a name I heard in reference to UGA earlier this season, but it seems to have died down to nothing.
