Kinda surprised by the Lsu comments on here after reading the thread on y'all's team board. A lot on there were bashing him and Gus haha. Glad we got him and sure Lsu will be just fine. Hopefully his knee heals up 100%

Bashing Gus for not developing a QB for the next level is a legit gripe

Kiel Frazier should have been his first. But it didnt work out for whatever reason. Maybe Jeremy Johnson will be his first. Hes getting a good hype so far.

Glad the kid made his decision in advance. Hope he doesn't dramatize and flip or decommit to recommit.

I still find it amusing that bammers and LSU fans question the ability of Malzahn to produce a successful NFL quarterback. Two schools that have never produced a successful NFL quarterback during my lifetime

True enough, Malzahn is a great coach. I think one of the better ones in college. However It was all Cam that year. Cam was a man amoung boys. Only a few player like that in college ......ever. Damn he was fun to watch.

Florida has a bigger claim to Cam than Auburn.

Why, did they pay more to sign him out of high school?

You should call all the NFL announcers and media people who introduce Cam as a former Auburn player and let them know Florida really deserves the credit for his success

Yea he was a big bodied strong arm physical freak developed well by Urban Meyer and then at JUCO. He was such a nice finished product that AU wanted to spend 180k to get him to plug in. But hey why should i talk about it...let Cam Newton discuss what he learned at AU.

Being developed two years at a school > one year school.

I thought sources close to Meyer said he thought Cam couldn't hit the broad side of a barn while he was at Florida? At least that's what everyone here said. That means he seriously developed afterward. I'd put my money on that development being from Malzahn rather than some JUCO program

Go look at the games early in the year. Cam developed a lot through the year. Those who say otherwise are just full of shite.

To be honest, this loss doesn't mean much to LSU. It's a great signing by Auburn. Narcisse is long on potential. Some health concerns but nothing too too terribly worrisome.

But Les' contract makes this a bit of a No-Big-Deal loss for the Ole War Skule. Why you ask?

Well it's because Les' buyout is well into the 8 figures through the 2016 season, which would be Narcisse's True Freshman campaign. Which-by all accounts-would be a redshirt year barring massive injury concerns for both Auburn and/or LSU.

At LSU, Les' buyout situation and prohibitive cost means he's untouchable by the brass in terms of forcing him to change the offense to move into the 21st Century, or just compel him to leave it alone and let Cam Cameron have the autonomy he absolutely does not have currently with playcalls and schemes.

Which means that LSU wouldn't adjust its offense until at least Narcisse's RS Freshman Year, and by that time, Felipe Franks (Class of 2016) would be a RS Sophomore. There's no service in America that doesn't consider a healthy Franks as a better overall prospect than Narcisse, regardless of Class.

So in essence, we'd have a better player in a system that could only change after his 3rd year in, and by that time, the smart money-regardless of who was running it or what the offense was at that time-is on letting Franks run a system he's comfortable and suited for. Which is the Pro-Style, traditional formation offense.

As opposed to Auburn, who as long as Malzahn is around will be consistent with the Spread and always value more athleticism at QB as opposed to a more classic, drop-back-style QB.

Cliff Notes: Les Miles' onerous buyout and its accompanying insulating affect allows him to keep the offense he wants in place through the time period where a Felipe Franks would be the best bet to run it. Making Narcisse a much better fit for playing time and productivity in Malzahn's offense at Auburn.

Unless you're comparing him against what Les Miles does with QBs.

Bigger claim? What successful NFL QBs has Urban put out? Cam improved drastically from his time at Binn to when he left Auburn. If I remember correctly, he wasn't that highly recruited out of JC, and most everyone said transfer QBs won't work in the SEC. I lurked here and I remember how everyone said he was a terrible passer at the beginning of the season, then once he improved and the MSU stuff came out, it turned into "Auburn had to pay him". Couple that with the progress Malzahn made with the limitations of Marshall and Chris Todd, I'd say Narcisse will be in good hands. Frazier is a whole other story, as he was just a nervous headcase. But that doesn't have the bash everything Auburn agenda attached to it, so logic be damned.

I'm sure if Johnson comes out and lights it up through the air this season, there will be another talking point for you guys as to why Malzahn shouldn't take any credit.

Yup.

David Johnson
Paul Smith
Chris Todd
Barrett Trotter
Ryan Aplin
Nick Marshall

All would have been seen in the NFL if they just played in a pro-style system instead of Gus' high school gimmick offense.
