Alabama already had a commitment from the state’s top-ranked linebacker.
Now, the Crimson Tide has a commitment from the state’s No. 2 linebacker as well.
Four-star Prattville linebacker Ian Jackson committed to the Crimson Tide Thursday, announcing his decision in a commitment video produced by AL.com.
Jackson’s other finalists were LSU, Georgia and Oklahoma.

“I committed to Alabama because of the coaching staff and how much they put me as a priority,” Jackson said. “Ever since Coach Saban came down in February, they’ve done nothing but show tremendous love. It was definitely a hard decision to make with all the schools recruiting me, but it feels like the right fit for me.”
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Jackson is rated as the 15th-best outside linebacker, 235th-best overall prospect and eighth-best player from Alabama in the 2021 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
The Alabama staff has compared him some to a recent star linebacker for the Tide — Rashaan Evans.
“The staff thinks that I can be a major contributor to the team if I come in and work hard,” Jackson said. “They see me as more of a Rashaan Evans type guy on the field. I plan to come in and adjust to whatever is thrown at me, be an unselfish player and do whatever I can for the team.”
Jackson, whose primary recruiters are safeties coach Charles Kelly and defensive coordinator Pete Golding, becomes the Tide’s sixth 2021 commit and the third from the state of Alabama.

Sound like a win for both parties.

Kid looks really good. Severely undervalued by these tanking sites.

Why does bama need to take so many linebackers? You took 6 last year and you have a bunch rostered.

Nice grab. A lot to like about his film and potential

Past 3 Years
2017:
OLB Christian Miller (Bicep tear) - missed 10 games
OLB Terrell Lewis (elbow injury) - missed 10 games
OLB Anfernee Jennings (Ankle sprain; ACL tear) - missed 3 games (natty)
ILB Dylan Moses (Broken foot) - missed 5 games
ILB Shaun Dion Hamilton (Fractured kneecap) - missed 6 games
ILB Rashaan Evans (groin injury) - missed 2 games
2018:
OLB Terrell Lewis (ACL tear) - missed whole season
OLB Chris Allen (ACL tear) - missed whole season
OLB Christian Miller (Hamstring injury) - missed 1 game (natty)
2019:
OLB Terrell Lewis (hyperextended knee) - 1 game missed
ILB Dylan Moses (ACL tear) - whole season missed
ILB Josh McMillon (Knee Injury) - whole season missed
Chris Allen was still recovering from his ACL tear too
That’s probably why they’re overloading on LBs

Well our two starters at LB last year went down with injuries and we had to start two Freshman at LB with one of them never playing the position, and he was by far the better of the two.
Then the two outside LB were drafted in the NFL. This year the presumed starters will also be their last year so the we were thin.
Hopefully that helps anyone understand the need.

Started two true freshman last year...doubt they want to be in that position again.
