It feels like the game is just fundamentally different for some schools now. Does Bama or UGA experience this?

Happens to every school. Bear Alexander just decommited after talking highly about Georgia and was commited to the school. Goes on a visit to Texas A&M and immediately decommits. Texas A&M did hire a Georgia staffer and the kid is from Texas so he was always going to be tough to keep but kids play the media game and tell the readers what they want to hear. Owen Pappoe had Georgia as his named leader for a long arse time and by the end he was all in with Auburn and UGA doesn’t even make his top schools. Kids fall in and out of love quick.

I think a lot of it, is the rumors get taken as fact. It was rumored to be that Walter Nolen was almost certainly going to Bama, and that rumor may or may not have been true at the time, for all we know he has never really liked Bama, also kids change their minds very often, and I think some play the game or do not tell the whole truth for various reasons. In the end your team has to get in on many many kids over your limit, then you are likely to sign enough of the good ones to have a successful recruiting class.

This nails it. It happens in recruiting, and it happens when kids get into trouble or when they leave a school. Typically their fans start coming up with some typed of excuse why the kid went somewhere else and people run with it. Next thing you know, it's a fact.

Look at Justin Fields and Arik Gilbert as good examples.

Okay, perhaps I missed a part of these stories, but last I heard Fields testified that he received racial abuse at UGA and that played a key part in his immediate eligibility waiver.

With Gilbert, like before I maybe missed some news, but from what I read he was back in Baton Rouge after quitting the team mid-season and making a 1.0 GPA. The program was supposedly offering a path back to playing this year and most LSU news I saw seemed optimistic he would be back and the UGA transfer announcement was somewhat a surprise.

Maybe I’m super critical, but actions by both of them somewhat show their character to be less than ideal.

No one actually knows this as a fact though. It's just a rumor. It may be true and it may not be but no one officially knows that would speak about it.

Perfect example. He never used this as far as I know. Even if he did, his sister is still at Georgia and playing softball. Hard to believe he would leave his sister in a toxic environment, right? However, all kinds of stuff was coming out. Excuses from Georgia fans, reasons from other fans.

Here is a statement from Fields once he was granted immediate eligibility:
He continued: "Now that this matter is concluded, I would like to clarify some facts. I have no regrets about my time at UGA and have no hard feelings for the school or football program. My overall experience at UGA was fully consistent with UGA's commitment to diversity and inclusion. My sister is a softball player at UGA. I am still close friends with many of my UGA teammates. A part of me will always be a Georgia Bulldogs fan."

I was talking about the rumors about players started about fans.
From LSU fans we saw the following stated as fact:

1)He was a cancer
2)He is Bi-Polar
3)He had a 0.0 GPA (Oddly enough this person claimed he could still play at LSU and only LSU)
4) He had a 1.0 GPA (But could still play at LSU or JUCO)

Who knows? One or more could be correct, but rumors sprout up when a kid even thinks of transfers and it is very difficult to week out the rumors from the facts.

Dan's a good coach, but not people person. Has the personality of Daffy Duck.

You'll have a good QB & offense, but will have to overcome more talented teams, as the person that thinks more highly of Dan, than Dan, is likely his wife.

UT offering his brother? UGA fans call this a cootieship. Richt offered one of Crowell's best friends to get Crowell to come play at UGA.

Hell the last couple of times we've done this, the lower rated player ended up being better. Quincy Mauger ended up better than Brendan Langley, and JR Reed ended up being better than DeAngelo Gibbs

Sounds like Walter could be transferring to an east TN school for his senior season.

Transfer to Knoxville is official now. He’s been living there a few months.

I think TN will end up in the final 2 for this kid thanks to Rodney Garner and Marlon Walls.
