I'm sure Lane is going to be mad about this.

He’s retweeting his commitment, decommitment, etc which is wild even for Lane.

Big loss for sure due to the type of athlete he is and would thrive in Kiffin’s system as much as the qb runs, but a 56% completion percentage in high school isn’t going to translate well to Jimbo’s offense well at all. Bigger loss for Ole Miss than a bigger get for A&M simply based on the systems the teams run along with the fact it’s shocking that a qb would take a chance under Jimbo as opposed to Lane but good for the kid.

FWIW Kellen Mond’s completion percentage in HS was 55.6%. LINK

Mond’s best season he finished 5th in the SEC in passer rating in 2020 and finished his college career with a 59% completion percentage. But hey he is 2/3 with 5 passing yards in his nfl career and was waived a year after he was drafted in the 3rd round.

Jimbo’s offense
From what I understand, he won’t be in Jimbo’s offense. I doubt he would have committed if he was.

We’ll see. Jimbo has never not run his own offense so if he is willing to give up the play calling to a good OC then A&M could potentially be great. I will still take my chances on a Kiffin offense regardless of whatever OC is hired because he is willing to adapt yearly to fit his personnel.

Way to move the goal posts my guy.
You said that a HS QB who completed 55% of his passes wouldn't translate well to Jimbo's offense. You didn't say it meant the guy won't tear up the NFL or be the top QB in the SEC.
I wasn't a huge Mond fan but the guy did fine for the most part under Jimbo. He's one of just 3 SEC QBs to have 9k passing yards and 1500 rushing yards for their career w/Tebow and Dak being the other two.
As for the NFL, Mond was drafted in the 3rd round and is still earning a paycheck as a backup for the Browns which is pretty good considering there are only 80 or so QBs rostered each year.
Also, Jimbo only had Mond for 3 of his 4 years at A&M. The reason his completion percentage is at 59% for his career is he was forced to start his true freshman year under Sumlin and Noel Mazzone after Nick Starkel went down in the first game of the year. Mond only completed 51% of his passes that season.
Under Jimbo he went up each year going 57%, 61%, to 63% his senior year.
