Honestly best of luck to him and his brother, Cousin, aunt, and third cousin removed.
Hell give his cousin, aunt and third cousin removed all a scholarship too!

I agree with you on that. If he was from West Virginia LSU wouldn’t give him the time of day IMO. I think he was a “must have “ by LSU fans at first in regards to Coach O support but with the season Lsu had with O ( very good) and the way he is recruiting , I can’t see why LSU is wasting two schollys

Obviously at the level Bama is recruiting at they don’t have to give in to any players demands and neither should LSU

Thanks for replying and I agree with your take on him and LSU. Don't think he wants to be at LSU and is looking for anyone other than us, preferably Bama, to offer Rodney. If in fact true, don't think I want him. Just screams unhappiness , bust and transfer as soon as Rodney is gone. The sad part is that I think(just my opinion) if left to his own accord he would've already signed with Bama. Parents are ransoming his talent I'm.

Sadly I think you are right. He feels obligated and I can understand that . Good luck to him wherever he goes . I could see Ole Miss offer the deal too . LSU , Bama, AM, UGA, etc are above this however

I think I said it earlier in this thread, but IMO if it wasn’t about the optics neither Bama or LSU would lose a ton of sleep over sospher. I don’t see Bama spending an extra scholarship on his brother but I’ve been wrong before.

Because his family is trying to get a two for one scholarship deal.Personally I don’t think he has any interest in coming to LSU considering his mentor

And my point is that not ONE D1 or even FCS school has offered the brother . Both schools Shouid not be that desperate . Heck with the way players leave after three years all schollies are important

I am sure Ishmael knows his brother isn’t deserving of a scholarship. He’s using that as leverage. It’s up to coaches though to not let him get away with it.

Not out of the question for both Bama and LSU to turn down that kind of request and see this kid end up elsewhere.

I am not even sure why LSU just doesn’t go and get two 4 stars and tell him to pound sand, especially with Ika signed sealed and delivered. Is Sopsher not a nose tackle for y’all?

I think we want him at end and getting Ika helps us sell that.
There are a few guys we're still targeting, but I don't think any have the upside Sopsher does, nor do they reside 40 minutes from campus. I think the optics of this recruiting battle are almost as important as the player's ability.
Several factors make getting this player a little more important.
- We're head to head with Alabama. I don't think it would be quite as big of a deal if it was between us and Georgia. But we've been fighting to keep Alabama from poaching our top recruits for a decade now.
- He's a defensive lineman, which is an area of great need for us and our head coach's area of expertise. I don't think it would be as big of a deal if this was a battle for a WR.
- He's from Amite and lately, Alabama has gotten all of the kids from that area that we've wanted. Of course, it's only actually 2 kids, but that fact hasn't prevented consternation from the fans.

At this point I think most Alabama fans would prefer our staff focus on flipping Nathan Pickering.

Wish we would do that. While getting Sospher would be nice, we are wasting a scholarship on someone who is barely even practice squad material. I'd much rather grab two 4 stars with those two scholarships and tell Sospher to frick off.

Yet another demand by Ish - he says he wont play NT, only DE in a 3-4. You kind of get the idea why LSU fans are tired of this recruitment and just want it to be over with either way at this point.

I understand some of these kids are just immature and finally get a taste of leverage or power and want to use it. However this guy is starting to sound more like a future headache than a future stud.

If I’m LSU, I’m not taking Rodney’s LOI until Ish’s is in hand. I wrote this dude off a long time ago so I’m not expecting to get him and the last thing I want is to not get him but be stuck with his below average brother soaking up a scholarship.
I don’t mind the package deal though. We have room.
