I understand the interest of the 4 year scholarship. But really, I wonder how many fans (present company excluded of course), would want athletes gone if they are not performing? Maybe you have a bad year in evaluating . . . and the class is not up to par with even average SEC talent.

I know it is a tough thought and many of us would want the players to stay on regardless . . . but a coach keeps his job by winning, not being the nice guy (see Mike Shula).

Also, I saw where a recruit mentioned not being afraid to get hurt . . . I'm not sure I understand that one. Medical hardships are different from what many people on here call being "processed."

Even with the 4 year scholarship, teams can still get rid of players, however, as long as the player is not getting into trouble, he won't be let go. I have no problem with offering it. I could care less if a high school kid doesn't pan out to his hype. That is no reason to revoke his scholarship.

Hardship schollies are a great tool, and the right thing to do when used for real injured players.

Unless you use the medical stipend from the NCAA to start a drug business, like the MTSU guy did.

That's what he says. He was 225-230 his junior year, so it's not like it's stretch.

Well anyone can workout on their own. You work out with someone like Torbor to learn a system and technique. That said, if he's learning all of that before he gets on campus, he stands to get a look at serious playing time.

We're still the big favorite for Desean Smith. Don't believe everything you read on a recruiting site particularly one slanted. Dobard has made it clear that he's leaving the state. What are we suppose to do just not try? It's kind of the same thing you guys do with kids you know is going to Bama no matter how much you recruit them. Still have to try. Ellis is not offer material in our staff's eyes. I think he is but there are better kids on our board and we're up against a number crunch at cb. Have 2 already and still have Ricky Jefferson on the board. No room for Ellis unless he just kills our camp. Would be a good get if Auburn gets him. Not a great athlete and has average speed/size but just knows how to cover and is good at it. Solid 5.7 to 5.8 guy depending on how you grade kids.
