This thread is going to make it 1000 pages if we keep it going until next February.

Falkins will attend LSU's Jr day this weekend. Also says he is good friends with Liggins. Apparently really close friends. Who knew.

Maybe a flip all ready lol

I have a question about another kid I heard about today

Marshall Wadleigh Jr from Northshore HS in Slidell, La

How big? Looks small but a talented RB, know anything?

So here is my question? Why would anyone commit to Bama early? If you are a borderline recruit then it has become obvious that your commitment doesn't gain you anything ( especially not a place in the class) in the long run. If you are a top notch recruit, they will always make room for you later in the process. I could see early commitments before, but obviously the new SEC legal counts have changed the way that Bama can do business, and so I just don't see an early hard verbal commitment being worth it at all. If Bama wants you, they will find a way to get you in. If they don't want you, they will find a way to get you out. As a recruit, it just seems a much better plan to save a place in another school's class and play the game with Bama from that vantage point.

Bama staff and Saban put a premium on EE's, that is the only advantage to commiting early. There needs to be an early signing period like basketball has.

True, but SoGa makes a valid point though.

Saban screwed the pooch with Philon and Taylor, we all know that. coaches are expected to keep there commitments, players are allowed not too.

It's a tough business, I would expect this as happened before, and if it hasn't I'm surprised.

In the long run it boils down to 3 things:

1: Did Saban break the rules?

Answer: No

2: Will it hurt Saban's recruiting ability in the future?

Answer: Yes, possibly.

3. Did Saban make a choice that was best for his college and team to continue to win?

Answer: Yes, most likely.

I don't agree with that. No kid is going to have the mentality, "I could be next". That's not human nature.

Probably not, but it is a possibility that some 3 star hangs back on committing due to what happened.

But you can bet the coach at some other school that may want him does.
