I would like to think that Alabama's success with ILBers had more to with DePriest coming than his friendship with Vinnie, especially when considering his friendship with Braxton.

Are you pessimistic about everything?
Posted on 3/15/12 at 10:16 pm to CapstoneGrad06
Hell no dude. I'm normally a sunshine pumping son of a bitch and I would like to think many on this board feel that way about me.

Just because those two formed a friendship, or any other potential prospects for that matter, doesn't mean other aspects of the program didn't initially attract them. Vinnie Sunersi was just the wildcard we had to play, when it came down to it. It ain't easy getting top prospects out of Ohio.

Especially now that they are all going to be the next Percy Harvin or Tim Tebow.

I agree. But to think that friendships are gonna bring us a franchise player is ludicrous. Any QB willing to sign with us will do so because of what our program has to offer, not because who his friends are. At least that is what I hope.

Landon Collin's, debo jones, and Dwayne Thomas were best friends from 6 to now. They always talked about playing with one another. How did that work out?
Posted on 3/15/12 at 10:29 pm to memphisplaya
That's my point. Best friends don't mean shite when it comes to recruiting.

I'm pretty sure that's what I just stated. But when all things are equal, it's about the relationships. Why else do you think Coach Saban talks about that all the time in recruiting?

Didn't I just agree with you in the above post?

Yup.
I especially enjoyed the times when you and your alter decided to get online at the same time and have a little E-fight. Of course, with you denying it the whole time.

Noles close to flipping Bama commit
When Miami (Fla.) Northwestern defensive back Artie Burns committed to Alabama this past winter, it came as a surprise to many. However, that never stopped Florida State from pursuing the in-state prospect and their diligence on the recruiting trail could be on the verge of paying off.
“I might end up decommitting sometime soon because Florida State is coming after me very hard,” Burns said Thursday night. “Coach (Eddie) Gran and I talk to most of the other coaches and they tell me where they really want me to come up and I’m one of the top DB’s on their board and all that stuff.”
There is a good possibility the Seminoles, along with others, do in fact get the 6-foot-1, 180-pound Burns on campus in the near future.
“I’m trying to go to Florida State’s practice next week, probably on the weekend, Miami and I’m going to try to get to Alabama’s spring game,” Burns said.
Burns does name an interesting top two schools bearing in mind he still considers himself an Alabama commit for the time being.
“Florida State is at the top as far as schools right now, Miami is number two,” Burns stated.
The four-star prospect expanded on why he has such a high affinity for the Seminoles.
“They’ve always been one of my favorites. I really like the school and I’ve always wanted to go there.”
247Sports ranks Burns as the nation’s No. 142 prospect.

Yep, Rivals quotes him as saying:
quote:
"Right now it's Florida State No. 1, then Miami," Burns said. "I'm still committed to Alabama, but I'm going to decommit from Alabama and go to Florida State - it probably will be during the spring that I do that. I'm going to sit down and talk to my head coach - he wants to talk to me to see if I really, really want to go there

Fl St's track program is really helping them with him also.
Sucks to lose him cause he could special in Sabans secondary but not sure how I feel about someone who is committed to a school but has them in a distant 3rd for his services

I'm going to be honest...
This kid is a commit...and I don't even know who the hell he is.
I'm not bothered by this at all.

He needs to get it over with and quit wasting everyone's time. If he rather play in Florida State's average defense, then have at it.
Posted on 3/17/12 at 12:22 am to CapstoneGrad06
why say you are going to de-commit? Just do it already.

Isn't Montra Adams visiting today? Anyone else?

He will play much quicker at FSU. I don't see a big fight over this kid.
