Texas has less sway than Vandy

Exactly. And, they’re about to not be good.

Some good shade but at some point you SEC baws will learn that titles carry zero weight in the conversation of conference realignment.

I used to think football natty’s mattered in these conversations. But, with Clemson being in no-man’s land, I believe you’re right.

How many years have you guys [Arkansas] been in the SEC without winning a conference title?
Probably the guy who pushed out this gem.

The gem is the assumption that Alabama and Texas run the SEC together at this point
you seriously took THAT as an example that this guy thinks texas and alabama run the SEC? I've seen some reaches in my day but this one is near the top.
Pretty clear to me he's referring to the schools that bring in the most revenue. LSU is clearly in the group as is a&m. If you notice, he mentions schools outside the SEC. He's referring to the college landscape as a whole and the divide between the haves and have nots.
I know you hate us but that's quite the reach.

It's clear, Marge, that Texas really doesn't understand what the SEC culture is all about. They are congenitally uncomfortable with the concept of mutual Institutional respect. It's going to be fun to see how they handle being a junior partner upon entry. If they start throwing shade at MSU or Vandy, they are going to find out really fast how that SEC loyalty extends to every school. We may wish continual misfortune upon each other, but our business dealings are above board (unless idiots Jeremy Foley or Joe Aleeva are involved).

There's so much gold here I can't even begin to wrap my head around it. This is one of those gems that are best left alone.

This bus is now being entirely driven by ESPN & Fox’s ROI. Dead weight won’t fly.
ETA: I don’t like it at all. But, anyone who thinks that’s not where this is heading is naive. I doubt Washington State or Oregon State ever thought they’d be so abruptly kicked to the curb.

Is this the utopian society progressives have been preaching to us about. Or, are free market forces going to win the day?
I’d bet on the latter given how cutthroat the last two weeks have been.

It is inevitable. A semi-pro league with the haves, and a Division II equivalent with the have-nots

Treating everyone equally is one of the things that has made the SEC great. It does not need to change. Look at how that unequal treatment worked out with Texas and OU in the Big 12.

Good point but the irony of that whole meltdown is that the teams that cried the loudest (a&m, nebraska) also voted for the unequal equity they cried so loudly over...but it was a mistake from the very beginning and I don't blame A&M for leaving. frick deloss dodds.
Agree that no conference can be healthy unless all things are equal.

Settle down Old frick, when the time comes Daddy will be forced to take care of you by the Texas Legislature, you'll be fine.

It's an idiotic proposition as there HAS to be teams finish at the bottom. You can't just eliminate Vandy (FOIA) for example, someone else will just take their place finishing at the bottom.
No matter how much you invest someone has to win the game. Maybe if CFB were set up like European soccer with relegation then this would make sense. But it's not and frick no we dont want that shite anyway.
