Shaq & his money: he tells this story on himself in one of his books: One of his many businesses when he was in Miami was he owned 25-30 car washes through out the city. All cash income. His CPA called him up one day & stammering & stumbling, told Shaq he couldn't find around $30 K. Telling him not to worry, he invited the CPA over to his house. Called him to a room off the main bedroom. Pointed to a large wooden barrel full to over flowing with quarters. "I started laughing & pointing to the barrel...sometimes I just like to see my money". $30k in quarters.

He also had is own licensing deal outside of the NBAPA. Jordan is the only other player to have had that (why neither was in NBA Jam, for example).

Im pretty sure elite football and basketball players have been paid long before Shaq.

I completely agree with this.

I just wish he’d played at Alabama

I agree with this.

my favorite nba team , the Lakers

frick all that.

None of this changes the fact that Dale Brown paid Shaq to go to LSU, just like Will Wade did his players.

I think Chuck would be funnier, but you couldn't go wrong with either.

Shaq’s biological dad was not apart of Shaq’s life growing up. His step-dad is the one who raised him right and Shaq had all the respect in the world for.

I’ve met Shaq on a few occasions. Before a game at LSU he came up to my son and genuinely talked to him about school and why it was important… he (Shaq) was 18. The next time I met him I was walking out of a restaurant in Houston and Orlando was in town. He saw my LSU shirt and stopped and talked to us. My wife said “what a nice young man. He was so polite. How did you know him?” I said, I’ve met him a couple times but no way he remembered me. She was shocked in how engaging and how he approached us.

He is just like you see on TV. Great guy.

Amazing how important having a good father in your life is as a young man. So many athletes these days only have grandma or mom

It's important for young women too. All young people need someone who will give it to them straight like only a father would.

cajunbama never posts about a team/ s he supports. He spends all his time & energy taking shots at LSU. He's 1000% fake. As opposed to Shaq who is 1000% legit.

He would try to pay for water in bars in Baton Rouge, I remember bartender telling him “we don’t charge anyone for water” so he just gave him 5 bucks as a tip.

I know a bunch of Shaq stories and all of them say he is “Really really decent guy. “

But I can totally relate to Shaq referring to his (step) Dad as his Dad.

I know it's cliche, but it's also true, that a Dad is much more than biology.

eta that he's one of my favorite sports celebrities ever.
