double agree..

Kids see that tweety as a message, "Bama will come and fvk you up, mess with us and that just makes it worse for you". Kiffin is far too smart to do something that would hurt his ability to recruit. These guys are just going to "select their players" and the rest who didnt get picked by Bama will be recruited by the everyone else. Saban would just laugh at anybody trying to make an issue of that tweet. These guys know what they are doing.

I know I am old and old school.

But if I was an AD, these jabs on social media would cause me concerns if I were considering him as a head coach.

He came to Bama to rehab his image. Why continue to show potential immaturity with these public jabs just to make yourself feel better in the moment.

We all know he was happy to get a couple extra scores against USC...they know it as well. No need to tweet about it.
You're exactly right and don't think for a second that it won't go unnoticed. It's bush-league and didn't need to be done...the score itself got the job done.

Like it or not, but 17 and 18 year old kids, elite athletes that they are, are attracted to such brash and confident attitudes, especially when coming from a rock star like celebrity such as Lane Kiffin that can back it up with results. Kiffin is not a stupid fellow, nor is Saint Nick Saban. If it gives you an edge, by whatever degree, then do it.

I am fully aware that low character gestures are often celebrated and admired by adolescents and immature individuals of all ages. No argument there.

And I am certain Saban would end it immediately if he so desired. No question.

However, my opinion is still the same. Kiffin is a great OC. But he continues to show he struggles with maturity and what will that translate into if he is out from under the guidance of Saban?

Not gonna lie. I love Kiffin. I love his style, I love his swag and I love the way he prepares a quarterback. He has 3 guys ready at Bama this year. Somebody is going to make s great investment at head coach in 2017.

He kind of deserved to be left at the airport tbh

No, he didn't.

I'm no particular fan, but if he was being fired for some egregious ethics or criminal issue, MAYBE you do it to send a message.

If it is performance related, nobody deserves to be humiliated like that. I would not work for a leader who did that to a predecessor.

I was against running up the score on that last deep pass, but after thinking about how they left him at the airport, I think I'll give Kiffin a pass on that one.

I didn't watch the whole game -- I kinda figured it wouldn't be much of a contest -- but if the long pass you're thinking of is the one I'm thinking of, wasn't that with the 2nd or 3rd string on the field? Running up the score with your first teamers can be nasty. Running it up with your back-ups is perfectly acceptable.

Edit: I really wish it had been 3:16, just for the jokes.

But the "low character gestures" is your opinion. That's your perspective, and one that the young kids they are recruiting may not and probably do not share. You said something in your other post about being "old school" or whatever term you used, but it's judgemental is what it is.

It's not the 1950s anymore.

edit: And then directly below your post was this, from another poster........

"Not gonna lie. I love Kiffin. I love his style, I love his swag and I love the way he prepares a quarterback. He has 3 guys ready at Bama this year. "

Case in point.

3 guys ready but smart enough not to rotate them steadily throughout the game.

He admitted they had a plan to bring in the Bateman kid, and knew they would do it, but he was smart enough not to tell the idiot media about it before the game was played. Another thing that differentiates Saban, he understands he owes the press nothing, and their opinion of him means even less than nothing.

"America loves a winner, and will not tolerate a loser."

Glad we still have Americans in the SEC!

Agreed. Never claimed otherwise.

Agreed and stated as much in the thread.

I was not alive back then but I will take your word for it.

However, I have coached, I have had to make hires.

I still maintain that these actions, however received by players, recruits, fans, etc would cause me concerns.

Short of actually causing a legitimate firestorm, it's not likely to be a problem. He did the same thing at UT and people...just bitched a little. Hell, Spurrier does it and the public goes nuts in admiration. I'm not saying I would want my HC to behave like that -- I wouldn't -- but if the players i.e. recruits and fans love that, he'll have a job as long as he continues to win.

I give zero fricks about whether or not someone thought it was running up the score, and I give zero fricks about someone thinking Kiffin was twisting the knife. For me, there's only one question: Did it help a freshman QB and a brand new WR. That's all that matters to me.

Agreed.

Winning allows people in charge to overlook even major issues. (These tweets are not major issues)

I also think Kiffin will get a HC job soon.

IMO, the general perception was that Kiffin need to rehab his image, he needed to mature. That perception may have been unfair, but it was out there. And therein lies a difference between he and Spurier. Spurrier was established and he was not in the process of rehabbing his image.

ESPN has a video of that as well, much better quality and a different angle. It's obvious that the USC support staff and players still have some affection for him. Despite the nadstomp, there was a lot of good sportsmanship exhibited by both teams.

And Kiffin, like a boss, takes off his visor and tosses it to the fans as he goes into the tunnel.

there are rumblings of off the field stuff even beyond the joey freshwater - don't think he is here after this year but love him as on oc. Don't think he will be the best option for us whenever Saban leaves though.

I did, great time. Dallas becoming home games. Huge turnout by both schools.

First quarter looked like we stole the LSU playbook.

I'd be happy to give Lane's ex wife a place to stay and the love and comfort she needs. I'm just generous that way.
