That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Google something like “private equity to buy college teams.” This shite is ramping up exponentially. There is an article almost every day now. We’re about to have owners.

They will be investors not owners. It might help the transfer portal silliness because what investor would invest millions in a product that drastically changes year to year

If private equity gets involved this whole thing is 100% finished

So, what you're really saying is that the association of the team with the school is going to diminish and in it's place, clubs/societies will be formed. This is what happened with soccer. It was the club/societies football, which is how soccer got it's name.

Will being a student at the school no longer be required?

eventually athletics will have no affiliation with the universities
they will get out of the athletics business

Yes, the LSU athletic department is a separate entity from Louisiana State University. The athletic department generates its own revenue and must meet NCAA guidelines.
Here are some details about LSU's athletic department:
Funding
The athletic department receives no state funding and must pay for all costs with self-generated funds. In 2023, the athletic department's total revenue was $200,476,979.
Deficit
The athletic department operated at a deficit during the 2022-23 school year, despite a $1.37 million profit based on operating expenses. This was due to the athletic department sending $5.24 million to the university as a non-operating expense.
This has BEEN a thing. It is nothing new. LSU athletics basically pay the university to be affiliated with them and nothing more and I am sure that is only because the NCAA requires it to compete.

It's already finished. As it stands it's more of a slow death, similar to terminal cancer that takes a few years to finish off the victim. With private equity involvement, it will be more like a sudden cardiac event that results in instant death.

Coaches can jump ship at will, I have no problem with the players doing the same.
It levels the playing field tremendously, give players more opportunities for playing time, and increases their NFL chances.
