I have to agree. Don't ever remember seeing a Saban coached team just shut down and quit after that kind of lead.
They tried last year vs Texas. Eventually got their mojo back.

Other than Arky we have been flat in the 2nd half of every meaningful game we have played.

bama just played sooooo tight down the end, it was painful to watch.
just the last few plays, punter shanks it for 13 yards. maze lets the punt hit the ground for some reason. norwood drops a wide open pass on 3rd. julio runs an 8 yard comeback on 4th and 10. the fact that julio came back for the last drive.... where was he the previous drive? did he recover that quickly from his injury?
very strange series of events. auburn went out and took the game but damn bama, that was bad.

that was the most pathetic display of coaching in the second half I have ever witnessed at Alabama.
Saban didn't drop a TD pass or fumble the ball twice in the red zone. He also didn't decide to not INT a pass on Auburn's first possession of the 3rd quarter and instead to tackle the only other defender who could have tackled the WR that he avoided.
You lost this game on about 5 plays. You could have had 42 points in the first half, and should have had 33 at least. None of that was coaching. That was players making stupid plays.

The offense's inability to put Auburn away and that sorry assed play by Barron were just pathetic. I was really hoping Bama would blow out the Thugs. Now I have to pull for Spurrier and I hate doing that.

Ingram fumble while running down field, Richardson dropped TD pass, McElroy fumble before half, 1st and goal in the 2nd half and only a field goal...
the offense should have put that game away, and they blew it.

i know you're mad and disappointed, BamaScoop but i don't see that as coaching. i see the loss as execution. dropped td pass by richardson probably would have put the game away. the fumble by the receiver and mcelroy's fumble, the 2 long td's when ya'll secondary was out of position. to me, the story of the game was turnovers and busted defensive plays. as far as the team quitting, it's not possible to be "up" adrenelene wise, the whole game. auburn adjusted and began to move the ball.

Even with the horrible big plays we gave up the Alabama defense whipped the Barn up front most of the game. You did not see the Camburglar running wild.
That game was lost on offense and should have been over and done at the half. We could hang our hats on power football the last 2 years and for some reason it wasn't there this year and it cost us.

Honestly, Saban looked like he even gave up. He didn't even chew anyone's arse when mistakes were made (except on that punt). He looked really checked out and that's not the first time I've thought that this year.
Classy post Scoop, as always.
Last time I saw Saban like this he was coaching in the NFL the next year.

Because a game played in the middle of the week after two hurricanes all while the state and players are going through one of the biggest national disasters in the history of our country is the same thing as what happened today....

blew a massive halftime lead where they were dominating in every way. make excuses all you like. it is the same. so i remembered it wrong, it was 21-0, not 28-0. very similar.

I just looked and saw you are from Virginia so I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you have NO IDEA what it was like and how the entire state was drained much less 21 year olds who were unloading medical supplies food etc at the PMAC instead of practicing and on average had lost 5 lbs or something crazy like that and then people expected them to come out and play football.
ETA: Miles should have a statue in his honor for getting that team through the regular season with 1 loss
