I guess we just differ on how big of a deal that is.

Oklahoma, AU, UT, MSU all wanted him coming out of Juco. All wanted him to play QB. Out of HS he was a kid from Georgia that UGA wanted to convert to TE. Check with UGA fans. They'll give you the skinny on him out of high school.

The first I heard about any of his problems at Florida was during the season. Not before AU offered him a scholarship. Granted, I didn't follow him at Florida, when he left Florida or while he was at Blinn.

I wouldn't shock me, just because doesn't something always happen the end of August that puts a scare into us right before the season starts. They make us wait for weeks to find out the outcome. Whatever school this about, why couldn't they tell them weeks ago instead of weeks from now. We wait from January to September for football season to start, and then something happens just to start it off badly.

Kid couldn't hit the broadside of a barn coming out of HS, but could run like a gazelle. UF offered him a chance at QB out of HS and many others didn't. Some wanted him at WR, some wanted him at TE.

Long story short, print media in Alabama request from both state schools NCAA info. Alabama complied. AU did not.
That is still fishy. We had a crap load of secondary violations that were released but Auburn didnt want to release what info they had.

Correct me if I'm wrong....but Cam's problems at Florida didn't come to light UNTIL Auburn was on their run for MNC.

I wasn't including the laptop stuff. I think getting kicked off the team and winding up in JUCO is enough to qualify for "troubled".

Yes, cause the fans always pick the starting QB

Yeah, but surely you remember the QB competition last year? It wasn't just "whoop, Cam's here to save the day". Cam wasn't Cam yet.

Did you ever read the thread I made about AU not releasing their secondaries?

How long did it take for Bama to release theirs? And Did Bama release everything they were asked? And were there items redacted again?

When he chose AU, people started talking about the laptop incident and parking tickets. About midway through AU's season is when stuff came out about him academically cheating and how he was about to go in front of the academic council.

I would hope not. I hate getting shocked. Those slides at the playgrounds were the worst growing up.

the end of August

At the end of August the story doesn't have as much legs as it does at the beginning of August. At the end of August the story matters to the school involved all year (and beyond), but to the National Media it matters for about a week until games begin.

Drop the story in early August (right after all conference media days are finished) and it has legs for 3+ weeks until games begin. I doubt very seriously that the story is dropped within a week of the season starting. It hits much sooner.

Evidently they denied the requests due to being under NCAA investigation. This would directly contradict everything you hear from their fans, even the ones who claim to have legitimate inside connections.

Huh. I might have to consider myself corrected. I remembered he was a very high 5-star, so I assumed he'd had a laundry list of college offers. According to this page
LINK
that doesn't seem to be the case. That's weird, I could've sworn Auburn offered him while he was coming out of high school

Serious?

IIRC, Kenny Rogers said he had an old relationship with Cecil and helped guide Cam to Blinn following his troubled time at UF.

Kenny said he was in the buisness of "helpin kids" ~ kinda like Will Lyles, Sean Nelson, Antron Wright, Walt Williams.

It's AMAZING, the amount of "help" these fine men provide to unfortunate, top rated HS players. Some of them even "help" these HS players behind the back of their parents and HS coaches. They really are looking out for the best interest of these kids aren't they?

He would have had trouble hitting water from a boat when he got to UF.

I was shocked how much his accuracy improved when he got to Auburn. I guess when you are playing for money you tend to improve...

...future NFL money that is.
