No I don’t remember it then but I was like 5 or something, when he played.
He did sign my cast when I broke my leg and bunch of stuff for me and throw the plastic football to all us kids in married students housing. If you lived in married student housing then I was the kid that jumped off the cement culvert and broke my leg. (Because my dad didn’t catch me lol)

He didn’t live next door I don’t think but he lived right by us and was friends with my dad. (Who hated LSU with a passion because they tried to break his arm or something in Tiger Stadium and threw oranges maybe) My brother would have definitely played for Ole Miss if my father hadn’t died when I was 19.

You guys think I dislike Ole Miss and that’s bullshite, I loved my time there and still pull for the rebels when they play anyone other than LSU, and then if LSU sucks but rebels are good I still pull for them just like I did when I was a student there.

But I also value tradition, like the university greys, colonel reb, the flag etc. Hell, I was one of Frank Hurdles first recruits for the save the flag club or whatever we called it back then. I had probably a dozen flags at all times back then, as curtains, on sticks, framed etc etc

But my dad hated the baby blue too so I guess that’s where I got it. I don’t think Archie liked it either but you would have to ask him. Steve Hindman was probably my dad’s best friend on the football team. My dad hated Vaught because steve was a great football player and Vaught always called Steve Stan the whole time he was at Ole Miss. Stan was his older brother that also was an incredible player and later a cardiovascular surgeon in Jackson. (RIP)

Outside of some of the cool gear Oregon wears, this helmet Ole Miss wore this year against Oklahoma was badass!

Oh shite, don't diss uniforms on this board. People take their yearly uniform discussions very serious, and those baby blue uniforms always seem to make the soy boys excited.

Personally, I think they look sissy, but that's not a popular opinion around here for some reason.

Yeah, I like that blue -- more like a sky blue to me. Looks cool to me. Similar to the Chargers, which have some of the best unis in football.

Powder Blue became a footnote for Ole Miss uniform history actually by mistake. As the story goes, Legendary Rebel coach Johnny Vaught ordered helmets for the Rebel’s season (late 50’s) and they arrived in a color best described as a robin’s egg.

As there were games to play and very few options to change them, the Rebels played with the powder blue helmets. And they continued with the powder blue helmets until 1969 and the NCAA centennial design, which was a return to the darker navy helmet.

Billy Brewer, being a Vaught disciple, brought back the powder blue helmets with the familiar script “Ole Miss” on the side from 1983 to 1994. When Tommy Tuberville took over as coach, he ushered in an updated uniform with navy blue helmets while keeping the Ole Miss script.

BR Sports
It was originally a robin's egg shade of blue not really powder blue.

Well, ours is Powder Blue. So I guess there's room for us. And ours looks better. So thanks.

Relax. The pattern is Ole Miss takes the powder blues out for a spin. It becomes popular and then every other school with even a hint of blue in their colors starts copying, it gets worn out, and Ole Miss goes back primarily to navy.

Wait a few years, rinse and repeat.

I don't mind it being an occasional alternate color but I hate how they've really overplayed it. At max, I want just one game with the light blue shite.

The powder blue was cool when they first tried it in a few games, but now that every tryhard douchebag in Vaught Hemingway wears a powder blue shirt to every game and almost every function they attend outside of OM sports......

The powder blue is now gay and the novelty has worn off.

This is how I feel as a Texas Rangers fan. The powdered blue throwback jersey/hat has been grossly overdone.

I was at Ole Miss 83-89 as a student and that’s when I remember it. (I was there a little kid in 69 but don’t remember much. The helmet they gave me was dark blue. I only saw the field a few times on kickoffs saw that was fine.

I get why we had to give up the rebel flag, although I hated it doing it for years because many ancestors that fought in the war of northern aggression and I thought it was an attack on my heritage. Maybe Col Reb became too much too but moving the graveyard of university greys and some of this other shite is too much.

I think the SEC should require each school select two unis before each season. Home and visitor. Then require you to stick with it all year.

If you want alternate unis - go to the Big 12.

If it were up to me for home games in a 7 game home season:

Navy Red Gray 4 times
Powder Red Gray 1 time
Navy Navy Gray 1 time
Powder Powder White 1 time

Don’t really care about road combos
