To the contrary, "If we execute" means everything. Using your post quote example, what Sheldon is saying in that case is we can play with the best of them......if we execute. If we do not execute, we would not be able to compete with the LSU's or Bama's.
Mizzou being "Better" is how you read it. Because I can fully see that this comes from the "How dare they open thier mouths, they're the new guys" mentality. Correct? I've only been subjected to this mentality a few hundred times on this board.
Debate "Can't touch us"? Sure. This phrase means "can't beat us"....."If we execute".
Are you saying Bama or LSU can't be beat?

Rumors going around that Ogletree and Rambo will be back for Mizzou

So Richardson was watching the game and turned it off? LOL, so instead of getting good film study o your next opponent he'd rather just not care.

Imagine how bad the title game would have been had B. Jones not made the infamous "restoring order" quote. IMO that is the only thing that kept LSU from being held to 25 yards of offense and giving up 50 points. Those LSU boys were fired up and they hung around because of it.

If both teams are playing their best games, Mizzou isn't beating Bama or LSU, regardless of Mizzou "executing". And "Can't touch us" doesn't mean a win, it means a win that is never in doubt. And I don't see that happening against LSU or Bama even if Mizzou is having a great day. But it's football. On any given day any team can win.
I actually think that the feeling of disrespect is going to backfire on Mizzou and A&M. The difficulty of the SEC is late in the year when you are worn down. The last few games I expect most SEC teams will have lost 3 to 5 starters. That emotional high will only last so long, and your players may do some things they shouldn't because of it (take more physical punishment). Mizzou and A&M may be down more starters than that. So I expect both teams to be contenders early, but fade as the season wears on.

Damn did any of you guys actually play football. Winning teams are always confident that if they do their job they will succeed. While I wish Sheldon would not say this kind of stuff his "arrogance" is what makes him a top level player. If you do not expect to win if you play well you and your team are losers. Hell go back to 1994 and Mizzou players would probably be rolling over showing their bellies. I am glad that attitude has changed.

I agree. If this board is any representation of what the SEC is like, then you are some sorry motherfrickers.

On the flip side, if your team needs to talk trash to pump itself up, you've got problems.

I respect your opinion as it makes sense. The likleyhood of Mizzou comming out with thier "A" game as well as either LSU or Bama doing the same, the odd's would be in LSU's or Bama's favor. Simply because or personel. But there have been supprises and let downs as you mention.
I would also agree with the latter that sometimes disrespect can backfire. But judging Sheldons past remarks agaisnt Texas, I feel with the SEC digs, it's light hearted humor to get guys on his team riled. Calling them" Big 10" "old men football" is just another dig I think in humor just to get shite started. Mind games. He did along with the rest of the defense, went out and backed up his boast against Texas. But unless you can forsee the future, which I cannot, it's something we'll just have to wait and see as far as who will be left at years end.

True!! When players talk trash to media you just fire up the opponent more! After you are in the SEC for a while, you learn these things!!

The one funny thing about it is when people from Arkansas throw around the term "Yankee" as if they are from "true south" or something.
Oh I'm quoting this....yes...
Yeah, because its not like half of the state doesn't sit below Memphis. Parts of western Arkansas can be said to have a "southwest" influence, but you're smoking midwestern meth if you think Arkansas isn't a part of the South.
50 miles north of Fayetteville the corn starts creeping in. Then its balls to the wall midwest til you hit Canada.
The lines were drawn where they are for a reason.
At one point, Arkansas was a southeastern state with a university football team playing in a southwestern conference. Our secondary fight song used to be Dixie for frick's sake. We changed that in '69 because we are a little more progressive than some people, but it is our heritage.
Nobody has ever thought Missouri was a southeastern state with a university playing football in a midwestern conference.

No. Sheldon did not "frick up". We have been getting slapped around all summer. Its time somebody showed that they had some balls. I wouldnt mind of a couple more players did the same.
