Academic rankings are more mythical and bs than the AP poll

Football.

There's a reason there are only like 2 Vandy fans here.

Academics. You're not going to be successful in life because your team goes to a certain bowl or game

I'd rather be #1 in football, but if it was would you rather have good academics or good football I'd probably choose academics.

And yes, I realize that probably doesn't make a ton of sense.

Alums and sidewalks will obviously have different opinions.

One will have greater life benefits than the other.

The truth of the matter is that very few people here would have gone to school at their SEC Alma Mater if they didn't have a football team to root for.

Academics but OSU fans like yourself would probably say football because your Athletics are more important to you than academics. Which isn't shocking considering you're from Ohio

Who does the academic rankings? Who is number 1 right now?

To me your school's reputation for your particular major/area of study is what matters moreso than an overall ranking. So, as to #1 in football or #1 in the US News and World Report overall rankings (or something similar) give me the #1 in football. At this point in my career, my school's current academic rankings doesn't matter much to me, it's about work experience at this point. If I was still in school or just out, then I might think differently.

That seems utterly insane.

I didn't decide on where I was going to school until 2 months prior to graduation.
