If he beats Bama and ends up winning a NC then he’ll have a strong argument as the best ever.

Shatters every major school record, snaps Bama losing streak, wins NC= “strong argument”

Just lol.

I've been watching since 1980 or so and he's hands down the best I've seen. But the position was so different when Bert Jones or YA Tittle were playing that you really can't compare stats.

This is the problem when you compare QB's that played in different eras. What would Bert Jones stats look like if he played in the modern era? We'll never know.

Yeap and it’s not close. Top 12 pick in the draft. The best chance at a pro career we have ever had. We have had some good quarterbacks. Bert Jones is up there but nobody came close to doing what Joe Burrow is doing right now against premier talent.

even in past years system, he had talent and opportunity and did not look the part of a world beater.

I mean, players do improve sometimes

hot take though

Burrow couldn't stand at the 50 of Death Valley and throw the ball outta the stadium. Jones damn near did - put it in the top 5 rows.

I don't see how this makes one a great QB. Throwing it into the top 5 rows? Who cares?

This is why I don't like talking football to LSU fans. Burrow couldn't hold Jamarcus' jock strap. In this offense Jamarcus is Bo Jackson level on Tecmo Bowl. Some of y'all LSU fans are way too quick to jump on the latest and greatest. Jamarcus and Rohan Davey would light it up in this offense.

davey and russell were awesome QB's with a ton of talent but burrow is better than both.

How about Trevor Lawrence?

Oh sorry. I thought you said the best qb ever for LSU.

Almost impossible to compare modern QBs to ones from decades ago.

I'd still say relative to peers Burrow has Jones beat, but again, hard to really compare. Obviously Burrow is on another plant passing the ball.

As a Saints fan, who has learned repeatedly that accuracy & ball placement means a fvck-ton more than cannon-arm strength & measurables ever will, Burrow is hands-down the best LSU QB I have ever seen.

What is wrong with me... agreeing w/a Bama fan . To this point Rohan Davey is my #1 & would be doing the same as Burrow in this offense. At the end of the year I might have a different opinion

Why LOL

It’s hard to call someone the best ever when they have just one good season.

Now, Burrow’s one good season may be SO good that he gets that title. And hopefully it ends up being that way

But people forget how good guys like Bert Jones and Tommy Hodson were at LSU.

The game has changed so much that you can’t just compare numbers.

Jamarcus shined with Les Miles controlling the offense. Think about that for a minute!

This is a common myth about Les Miles.

Les Miles did not become an offensive recluse until Jarrett Lee in 2008. LSU's offense from 2005 to 2007 was pretty damn good under Les/Jimbo.

And even in 2008, the offense was decent (30 ppg). Our defense was terrible that year and Lee had a tendency to spot the other team a TD or 2.

Pretty crazy they will be playing each other, regular season, 1 v 2 matchup. It’s probable that it’s 2 of the 3 heisman finalists. Going to be an awesome game and a lot of whiskey will be needed with the type of game it’s going to be...

Agree goldtide. Both fanbases are in for a treat to watch such an epic game. And Yes I think Burrow is the best qb that i have seen at lSU and i am old as shite.

He doesn't have Bert's physical tools (few do) but he's obviously plays in a different era and will put up huge numbers
and is a very good QB
