You’re not a system QB in a system that requires you to throw it 30+ times a game, check down, allows you to audible with what you see the defense doing, etc

If anything, your argument is backwards. The system last year prevented him from being his best.

He was of course put into a great system but LSU gives Burrow a ton of autonomy

Winner of this game wins the Heisman.

Unless the loser has phenomenally better stats in the game, but loses by a fg or muffed punt.

Like Joe throws for 4 tds and 100 yards more, but Harris goes off for 200 and 4tds on the ground.

This is why I don't like talking football to LSU fans. Burrow couldn't hold Jamarcus' jock strap. In this offense Jamarcus is Bo Jackson level on Tecmo Bowl. Some of y'all LSU fans are way too quick to jump on the latest and greatest. Jamarcus and Rohan Davey would light it up in this offense.

We all agree Jamarcus has a bigger arm

You don't know how he would do in this offense. I think Burrow has a better touch. No doubt Jamarcus had a much bigger arm.

I agree with your previous post, Burrow is tougher and a better leader.

As far as football talent, it was Jamarcus. Burrow will have better stats, but its unfair to compare the two, because the style of play in 2006 and today is completely different. 2006 teams still played defense and tried to run the ball and you had fewer possessions.

Jamarcus is the most over-rated.

Strong arm, little touch.

And he would not be Bo Jackson in this offense because he wouldn't study the playbook to pull off the offense.

He will without a doubt have the best single season in LSU history.

If he beats Bama and ends up winning a NC then he’ll have a strong argument as the best ever.

not trying to be a nitpicky, argumentative bitch, but your logic is off. First, I made no real argument other than it was undetermined. Further, everything is a system... autonomy or control, they are both a style of play. Last, your argument supports the first part of my statement. He may simply be playing in an offense and style with which he is more comfortable and in control... a system that is not preventing him from being his best, as you said.

Rohan Davey was oneof my favorites. He wasa powerful team leader. Mettenberger was great too and set lots of records. Russel was fantastic and had a powerful arm, but Burrow has the ability to read defenses and has pinpoint accuracy. He is Drew Brees 2.0.

They played Texas and Florida and a bunch of nobodies which LSU does early every year. They think they are world beaters after the first 5-6 games then when they get into the heart of the SEC schedule they peter out. I think Auburn will beat them.

Jamarcus shined with Les Miles controlling the offense. Think about that for a minute!

Leave the drugs alone. Burrow is good but I saw Drew Brees in college. He was an absolute stud who was surrounded by so, so talent and a great head coach. Brees is one of the modern day football Gods.

That. Joe knows what he's looking at every second because he comes in prepared like an NFL QB to play that opponent. That's not something Jamarcus ever did. Ever. Now you put Joe's brain in Russell's body and you've got a football demigod. But since you can't, and Joe isn't missing much, he's the better QB.

If Auburn (who hasn’t won in DV since 99?) comes in and beats us with a freshman QB, I’ll video myself sawing off my testicles and post it here

The "system" argument is so flawed. The only system LSU has is making good play calls as opposed to run-run-pass-punt every offensive drive.

Funny how "Texas and Florida" are generally considered the best resume of any unbeaten team in college football; that's two ranked teams (one on the road) in 6 games. Both in the Top 10 at the time, one still is. And it isn't like LSU stumbled in those games, Burrow threw 80% completion for over 750 yds and 7 TDs in those games.

Say what you want, this isn't the "usual" LSU team.

Matt Flynn or Rohan Davey are the best of the modern era. Burrow will be the best ever if he keeps on this trajectory.

type of game it’s going to be...

And it's the kind of game that drives me nuts. Neither defense will be able to consistently stop the other offense. Last team with the ball wins, or the team that makes the one big mistake loses.

Still, it ought to be one for the ages if we both take care of business the next two weekends.

As of today, yes. He’s play with pro skills. Reading defenses, leading safeties with his eyes, good throws and smart decisions. And he has brass balls. We’ve had our share of great competitors, but his skill set is something I’ve never seen here. Not even J. Russell put up these numbers, and he was thought by many to be one of the better skilled QBs at LSU. I can’t think of a single QB in recent history to play like this for LSU.
