re: Underwood flipping was the biggest blessing
Posted by LSUFreek on 2/10/26 at 6:14 am to OJsLifeCoach
Now I'm curious: what's the bigger butterfly effect?
Underwood flipping, ultimately gets BK fired, Lane Train arrives & is off to a promising start.
...or Burrow transferring and making LSU a place where even an idiot like O can side-car the Greatest Team of All-Time, which becomes a factor in why an offensive genius would leave his CFP-bound team before the CFP.
...or Saban maximizing La.'s resources & turning LSU into a powerhouse, where even idiots like Les & O can win championships, which, along with a Saban testimonial, becomes a lure for Lane coming here.

I honestly don’t think a 1 is out of the question
Side note: It always bugs me when a knock on a 1st round draft prospect is that he is considered too old for being 24 or 25 y/o, yet veterans like Tyreek Hill (28), Micah Parsons (26), or potentially, a Maxx Crosby (28) can command a 1st Round pick & it's considered a no-brainer. Hell, Hill & Parsons each cost two 1st rd picks.
If a QB is drafted at 22 y/o, what's the long term vision? That he hopefully might play for your team for 15 years, right? But if he is drafted at 25 y/o, now you're hesitant to spend a 1st rd pick on him bc he might only play 12 years? Yet, teams will spend a 1st rounder (or more) without hesitation on a 28 y/o vet DE who maybe has 5 years of solid production left???
re: You think portal recruiting has been fun?
Posted by LSUFreek on 2/10/26 at 4:51 am to X Carter Is Fast
Recruiting is similar to the NFL's Free Agency (pricier portal transfers with experience) vs the Rookie draft (cheaper HS bluechips with potential).
The biggest differences are CFB's FA pool is far more abundant as any player (even one under contract) is practically obtainable...and in HS recruiting, there's no draft order to keep the rich from getting richer & the poorer from staying poor.
Both pools can be a ton of fun, but I'm liking the experience & immediate impact portal transfers tend to promise, despite the ludicrous prices. Imagine if NFL vet contracts weren't binding and/or had affordable buyouts where an NFL cellar dweller could turn into a championship contender in one offseason if player movement is unrestricted & the right pieces are added. Hell, perennial pushover Indiana did just that, and Miami did, too, after two decades of irrelevance.

I said I didn't know if Darnold would throw multiple interceptions, but Drake Maye.

That Clydesdale with the bald eagle was majestic. I literally got goosebumps.
Fun fact: There was a german immigrant soap-maker named Anheuser, who used his money to buy a brewery. He needed a salesman to peddle the beers and this hired this kid, Busch, who eventually married Anheuser's daughter & became co-owner. After experimenting with different recipes, Anheuser sent Busch to Germany to find & return with the best one. Busch went to a town named Budweis and they've been using the same recipe ever since.
Fun fact 2: As a wealthy man was inclined to do, Busch got into Riverboat racing. He had the best boat and consistently beat another beer competitor & Riverboat enthusiast, Frederick Pabst. The one & only time Pabst ever beat Busch, Pabst wanted to commemorate the upset win, so he brewed a special beer and called it the Pabst Blue Ribbon.

So, most of America didn't like Prince or Tom Petty or Michael Jackson or Bruno Mars, or Coldplay, or Maroon 5, or Madonna, or Justin Timberlake, etc???
No, this is an obvious politically calculated move to virtue signal to a minority demographic each year that specifically started after the Summer of Mostly Peaceful Protests. Snoop/Dr Dre, The Weekend, Rhiana, Kendrick. This year, Bad Bunny is for ICE protestors.

A couple of days ago, I fell asleep watching you tube and woke up to this video when the host introduced Pop. I thought I had already watched this video. What I didn't realize, is I had watched the 2nd part after the ad when Peyton was re-introduced.
So, I didn't know Peyton was that close with Devin White, who is apparently his godbrother (as Devin is the son of Pop's godfather). Imagine being like 8 or 9 y/o and seeing Devin dominate in the SEC at LSU, win awards, get drafted to the NFL, win a SB with Brady, etc...Devin must've been like a larger-than-life superhero to Peyton. I can see why, no matter the head coach, Peyton would always want to be at LSU.

A rewatch is a mandatory exercise for any BB fan. Kind of like the people who rewatched The Sixth Sense after learning the twist, there are new discoveries that weren't obvious to everyone on the initial watch.
Ex: one episode ends with contemplative WW sitting by the pool nervously spinning a gun on a table that slowly stops spinning and is benignly pointing at a Lily ofthe Valley plant pot. Meant nothing to me other than good-acting of a desperate-man-in-deep-thought on the first watch. It was Ho.Lee.shite on the 2nd watch.

When I looked at his extensive highlights, I started to realize why so many mock drafts had him in their top 10 picks. He is a 3-level playmaker with short, medium & long game. Very reminiscent of JaMarr Chase's all-around dynamic game. I thought, if the Saints didn't address defense, Tyson would be an fantastic weapon for Shough, in a room with a gaping need for playmakers.
I did not know about the injury history. MCLs, ACLs, collarbone, hamstring...yikes. Seems like a deal breaker.
Shough & Taysom Hill both had extensive grim college injury histories that would make one shudder at the thought of drafting them high. However, Taysom went relatively unscathed for 7 years before another major injury. And so far, knock on wood, Shough has been pretty resilient & tough. Shough in a redraft would've been a Top 5 pick, and Taysom actually would've been drafted, at best Day 2, but certainly not an UDFA. Drew Brees came back from a career-ending injury and miraculously turned into a HOFer in his 15 years with the Saints.
Point is, Tyson could be another JaMarr Chase with his injury history behind him. His worst injuries to the knee happened his freshman year. Yet, he's still had Top 10 pick production after that. I don't know if I fully believe what I'm writing, but you told me to sell you on it, albeit with glass-half-full of facts.

Our closest star and nearest solar system, Proxima Centauri, is 25 trillion miles away.
Currently, mankind's fastest space craft is the Parker Solar Probe traveling at 430,000 mph.
It would still take approx 6,600 years to reach Proxima Centauri at that speed.
Space is unfathomable, even in the 'hood, much less comprehending further distances in the Milky Way, or to other galaxies.

Wow. I did not know that. But it makes perfect sense. Thanks.
My dad had a sharp observational wit & quick comebacks in conversations giving him a charismatic abilty to command a room, even though it was only a living room, restaurant table or wedding reception foyer. I always wanted to be like him, and some friends might even say I'm also living-room/water-cooler funny.
However, the comedians I belly-laughed/teared-up/couldn't-breathe at the most were the ones that expressed some variation of explosive anger or slow-burn frustration in guys like Jackie Gleason, Sam Kinison, Bill Burr, Louie CK, George Carlin, Ricky Gervais, etc. I have none of that in my humor with friends. So my humor & my sense of humor are totally different.

Speaking of Jahri & coaching, I once thought Zach Strief would’ve given coaching a chance.
While Zach didn’t have All-Pro ability, he knew what technique it took to get there and sounded like an excellent teacher in this video below. It’s worth a watch if you’ve never seen it. Just click the link and go directly to You Tube:

This week (and NFL Draft week) I always took off work & used PTO. There was always FOMO drama & rollercoaster intel leading up to NSD.
Whereas now, I worked last night and I'm gonna work again tonight and will catch up in 2 mins before I leave for work which couple of names LSU signed.
Thankfully, Portal season delivers the same highs (& lows) NSD used to provide annually, for an even longer window of time.

The Portal class, right? I can't believe someone that went to a junior college qualifies for a HS class, two years after he left HS, right? Or did the recent lawsuits vs the NCAA for extra years ultimately deem time spent at a JUCO doesn't count against eligiblity?

Yep, there were plenty of deep-seated connections: Layla Kiffin grew up in Gainesville and is the daughter of Florida QB legend John Reaves. She was raised a Gators fan and attended the school. Knox once stated publicly that Florida has a great stadium & jerseys and was in his top 2 schools (with Oregon). Kiffin understood the fondness his family has for Florida. Plus, Lane is admitted fan of Steve Spurrier, someone Lane is compared to a lot.
But it mainly came down to Strictlin vs Verge. Strictlin did not want UF's GM to report directly to Kiffin and Lane felt there would be meddling by the AD. Verge promised to leave him alone and let him coach, while also giving Lane access to a significantly higher NIL resources. The Saban & Carroll Tiger endorsement helped put the nail in the coffin for Florida.

Being in the lead now is a "good feeling" but means squat about where the prospect will end up.
I mean, nothing is final until the kids sign somewhere on December 2nd later this year. So, I guess it's irrelevant getting a commit from a Chambliss clone in Peyton Houston...or a commit from the #1 EDGE in Jaiden Bryant...or a potential commit from the #1 CB in Joshua Dobson??? None have signed yet, so it must mean squat, so it's probably irrelevant to even pay attention to recruiting or the recruiting board until the evening of early Sign Day, right?
Or...maybe since bags are similar, relationships still matter. Raymond, Lucas and Kiffin are currently winning the (wallets &) minds of these 3 top talents. That feels good and I like the odds for where they might sign, despite no guarantees. LSU might even be the one who does the $wooping in at the last second and flips, say, the #1 WR Easton Royal.
He is so smooth when he pulls or gets out in space. I watched some Jordan Seaton highlights a few days ago, and both run like gazelles (compared to other big men). Lamb has some tools to work with. Love this pickup.

Save any uncertainty & worry for 12-2-26. Worrying now won't prevent any disappointment from the future, but it'll rob today of it's positivity.
