They left after Alabama nearly murdered one of their players with illegal hits and go basically no penalty or sanction, I think it caused permanent brain damage, they were mega pissed at that and all the bama cheating in recruiting, the same shite that almost caused Florida to leave

We dont care, we play them anyway, hell them and clemson both being in the sec would have given us a bunch of in conference wins over the years.

The Mississippi schools were the ones as Dodd didnt travel to backwoods Mississippi and made those schools come to Atlanta hell, he tried the same with LSU.

I would take GT over Clemson in a heartbeat.

If this thing turns into a race for schools we would take them back to prevent the BIG10 from getting a footprint in our territory. Same reason we would take Miami. The real question is whether adding a middling program like Ga. Tech adds more value/money to the pot. If yes, they are in. If no, they are out.

We didn’t get rid of them. They left of their own accord.

What would they bring over Clemson, FSU, NC St, or VT?

Nerds don’t belong in the SEC. Vandy is an exception because we need someone to beat up on, but we don’t need our conference to be built on nerdiness.

Virginia Tech would be the most valuable for that bunch as it would give us Washington DC and is in a new state for the sec. Plus they are similar to sec schools.

I love the skyline around the stadium during a game but GT would be a terrible addition to the SEC.

GT left on their own. It was Dodd's decision. SEC schools were running off players they had signed, who weren't performing" so they could basically "over sign". Dodd had a disdain for that.

True.

And NC St is MUCH more of an SEC school than UNC.

But, Atlanta is a bigger market than Washington, D.C. Atlanta is college football central, too.

That makes no sense.
Add a school for the sole purpose of keeping another conference out of the area? What are we going to do. Add every school in the area?
Whether B10 has a team in the south or not has no impact on the SEC. It doesnt lessen the SEC tv deal or negatively impact the SEC in any way.

Not Maryland.

I definitely understand that Maryland may not be the best cultural fit for the SEC and their football program is abysmal. However, Maryland would gives us several massive markets - NovA, DC, and Baltimore. Maryland is located 30 mins from DC and many of the alumni's work in Baltimore. Let me tell you... southern Maryland and Baltimore has TONS of talent. Check out their population makeup.

Also, Maryland is located below the Mason-Dixon line so them being "south" isn't completely out of the equation. It's not like we are adding Connecticut or Pittsburgh.

It’s a great campus with history unlike Starkville…
