Is it a possibility?

I read it’s a possibility, but I don’t see who would jump or make sense, Oklahoma state? Or Texas tech?

The Big12 gets to decide who to raid now.

The Pac-12 could raid the WAC, Mountain West, and maybe even the Sun Belt for teams

From ESPN, “One source in the conference told ESPN on Friday "it's wide open" as far as who the Pac-12 would consider inviting, but added the Big 12 and ACC are worth exploring.”
Am I misinterpreting this statement?

No your interpretation seems right.
The Pac could reach out to Big12/ACC teams, but who in their right mind would leave a somewhat shaky P5 conference for one that is dying fast?

Nope. Group of Six Conferences are going to remain in the backseat on all of this I’m afraid.

The conferences have to be very careful with “reaching out”. It is very likely that many Big12 schools applied to the PAC when the OU TX news broke, if not before.
So the PAC could potentially act on existing applications.

More likely to be the other way around.
Pac has been dying slowly in all sports.
Big 12, SEC, and B1G country is the heart of college athletics (Big 3 sports).

This is what will happen as I see the AZ schools along with CU and Utah joining.

I remember a few years ago Idaho was in the Sunbelt with U LALa and Georgia Southern. So was New Mexico State. Travel expenses had to be a large part of the budget for those programs.

Maybe they tell the four new teams to take a hike except BYU and do a complete merger with remaining pac teams. Then ucf can join the sunbelt

Big XII was smart to add UH and UCF. Both very large schools with big alumni bases. I think they are onto something going after growing schools with big alumni bases that could translate to dollars in the future. Liberty, FIU and Arizona St should be in their radar. Liberty has the largest student population of any FBS program and FIU is also massively be in the heart of Miami. Wouldn’t be shocked if FIU is bigger deal than the U in 20 years. Liberty has some risk as an online heavy program but if tv eyeballs are what matters that may be just fine. Yea, that might not translate short-term but is a solid long-term play. I’d add in Washington as well but that is just geographically too challenging and I also suspect they wind up in the B1G.

Pac 12 is springing leaks everywhere. Oregon and Washington are on hold with Big 10 until Notre Dame decides. No doubt the Big 12 is already talking with Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and maybe or maybe not Arizona State. All of those schools will go somewhere, and the rest of the Pac 12 can join whatever, West Coast, Mountain West, or they add teams from those conferences. The Big 12 is likely to survive, just weaker. ACC probably survives, but I suspect UNC and Virgina are inquiring with the Big 10 and SEC. No doubt Clemson and Miami would jump to the SEC, but Fla State turned the SEC down earlier, so may have blown their chance. I suspect UNC and Virgina would be first priority for another conference, then Clemson and Miami, but the ACC could get Notre Dame and hold - it's in a contract that ND has to go to the ACC if they join a conference, but what are contracts these days? All of this movement is about money from tv deals, most of which redo by '25, and teams like Va Tech, West Va, and maybe even Fla State don't mean much money to the big sports networks. I know nothing but would bet a dollar that UNC and Virginia to the Big 10 and Clemson and Miami (or Fla State) to the SEC happens sooner than later.
