re: Would I be in the minority thinking Dabo will never come to Alabama?

As a Clemson fan, a couple of things stick out about Dabo. He is loyal, he is an eternal optimist, and he gets people. I doubted him when we first hired him, but at every turn he made our program better. He brought in great coordinators and developed coaches within the program. Coaches love coaching for him.
Despite the fact that I think going to Alabama would be a terrible marriage for both parties post-Saban, I could see him making the move. I think he has deep ties to Alabama, and believes that his way would be just as successful as Saban's at Alabama.
At Alabama, Dabo would be successful at continuing to bring in great recruiting classes. He would also sign low ranked guys that would make you scratch your head. He would probably call those guys program setters... guys who know they probably won't see a lot of playing time, but they will work hard and won't cause locker room issues. I would call them Dabo Jrs... he was a walk on success story, and I think he is a believer in bringing in a number of those guys.
If you look at Clemson's secondary this year, you will see that we are really thin because Dabo signed too many of those guys in the secondary, and at a couple of other positions. There is some great talent in the 1st and 2nd team, and then there are some guys who wouldn't start for Wake Forest. Alabama fans would probably riot over some of his recruiting takes.
Dabo also has a much more wide open style of play that he implements. It attracts dynamic players like Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence and 5 star receivers to come play for him, but it also means that there will probably be a WTF loss in there about every season because his style may produce more turnovers.
Dabo is less Nick Saban and more Les Miles with a dynamic offensive identity.
I think if Dabo were to leave for Bama in the next 3 years, Venables would be promoted to HC. If that were the case, I think there is a good chance Venables could build on Dabo's success and keep the program in the top 15 consistently.

Missed one of my faves...
And he's chilled out a shite ton since coming to South Carolina.

I don't know Dabo, not really. Had one class with him, and I remember speaking to him once(about an assignment and not even football). So I don't know what he is thinking anymore than anybody else. Has anybody considered that he might be thinking bigger than Bama and looking for some nfl paychecks, maybe Notre Dame, or Texas? I am just saying that Bama and Clemson are far from the only places who might like to have him as a coach.

maybe Notre Dame,
He's from the South, can't see him taking that job.
Also don't think they'd go after him.

Stating the obvious to Tillman does not always work. If google implies something he believes it as he seems not to have "boots on the ground" experience for anything outside a very limited physical space. I would think this space is limited to his moms basement but it could extend to their yard and possible part of the street they live on.

Unfortunately he has.
I believe it's because of expectations, though. If he ever fields a decent team he'll be himself again.

Honestly, I think there's a better chance of Venables moving on before Dabo does. But that's just my opinion.
The other side of this, which makes in an interesting topic, is how loyal Dabo claims to be to Clemson. Saban leaving will put those words to the test. Is he REALLY loyal to Clemson or will his ego get the best of him and make him want to dip his toe in the pool somewhere else? Except for the money, it will be a no win situation for him (fans will be disappointed in him regardless of his choice).

He should be showing his arse this year, then.

So much obvious hate in this thread! He's openly said he has a strong affinity towards Alabama, being his "home" and all. He's made it clear no one other than Alabama and Clemson could ever have him.

I think the championship locked him in.

pssshh, that was a prerequisite for him even getting a call after saban leaves. We are not some poors who have to go after a coach who hasn't proven anything, or hire our neanderthal defensive line coach who has in fact proven that he is a terrible head coach already

Unique circumstances for each of those.
DuBose was a "Bama guy" who played for Bear and the moron AD caved to fan calls for him to get the job.
Fran was viewed as a good hire at the time and won 10 games in year two. Would've never been consistently in the top 5 at Bama b/c he couldn't handle the pressure so he bolted.
Price had won the Pac before and was viewed as a good hire. He met his Destiny in a strip club though and it didn't work out (probably for the best).
Shula was hired in May b/c we fired Price then. At that point, you've got a limited pool of candidates to choose from, but even Shula managed a 10 win season in Tuscaloosa.
It all worked out ok in the end though.

Huh?
I'm just saying in general. I don't think Clemson's gets taken away or anything gets pulled up in this.

Why do ppl think there is this consensus that Bama fans think Dabo is going to come back?

I loved watching Muschamp wig out on the sidelines and to the ref's in that IB. He acted like he was the HC and old Gus was the coordinator.

a masters program is a graduate program.

I felt pity for the get-back coach watching that game.

So coaching at his alma mater, living near the vast majority of his family, making three times as much money, and a more prestigious job does not beat out being the Clemson goat in your opinion, interesting.
The real question is if Bama will want him.
Saying ALabama is a more prestigious job than Clemson is a special kind of redneck homer assertion.
If Bama pays him 3 times as much as Clemson, that would underscore how stupid ALabama people are. He is one of the highest paid coaches at Clemson.
If Alabama is much more prestigious than Clemson, why would you pay a coach 3 times as much as Clemson. lol If you throwing crazy money at a coach, you are admitting it is about the coach, not Alabama's 'tradition'.
