Would Auburn keeping it respectable keep Bama out of the playoffs?

Just wondering how I can spin next Saturday as a moral victory.

According to some of the deusional Bama fans on here, they think they have a shot at the playoff now since Tennessee lost. So I guess you can blame them not getting in on AU keeping it close next week

There are no moral victories in football unless you are an Auburn fan. So sad!

Bama has no shot now since OSU and Mich both won. Both have enough tradition to be selected with one loss over a two loss bama.

No, a win will be a win for Bama.
3 of 4 possible teams have to lose, and of those 3 Michigan needs to get blown out or Bama is out. So the chances aren’t good at all.
That doesn’t include LSU, who by winning out Eliminates Bama no matter what else happens.

Bama ain't beating Auburn

Nope. Bama is going to beat your collective dicks in the dirt. Cadillac is going to look like a 1982 Yugo with three bald tires by the time this is over.

They aren't going to the playoffs regardless, but Auburn beating them would be the most SEC thing ever

Here is the only type of scenario where Bama has even a shot of getting in.
1. UGA and winner of OSU/Michigan win their conferences. These 3 are ahead of bama pretty much regardless of what happens, so Bama is better off if they're just in. That's 3 of the 4 spots taken.
2. Clemson loses to SC, UNC loses to NCSU and UNC beats Clemson. 2-loss ACC champ will be ahead of Bama... this makes the ACC champ a 3-loss team.
3. Oregon loses to Oregon State, Washington loses to Washington State then Oregon beats USC for Pac 12 title. USC would still be in the mix with 2 losses as a non-champ, but Bama would likely get selected ahead of them so USC/ND isn't really a need for USC to lose. But Bama needs both UW and Oregon to lose one more before winning the pac 12 title... because a 2-loss P5 champ will be in ahead of Bama with no CCG.
4. TCU loses to Iowa State and Kansas State. If they win either they're in ahead of Bama.
Ideally Bama would also want UT to lose again to Vandy. Otherwise it's possible they take a 2 loss UT over a 2 loss Bama due to the head to head.
While it's still technically possible at this point, Bama needs a whole lot more to happen than UT did before losing this weekend, and UT wasn't very likely to get in even had they won vs USC.

I'd say Alabama has done a good enough job of keeping themselves out, thank you.

We are not going to the playoffs and we don't deserve to go to the playoffs. If the public at large had their way, this would be a 12-team playoff year and we'd all but be assured of going if we beat Auburn next weekend. I think this season more than ever showcases why having 12 teams in the playoff is a dumb idea.

quote:2-loss NC won’t pass Bama. Losing to Georgia Tech and NC State losing this week drops them too far down to come back from.

quote:TCU is out if they don’t win their conference. You’re comparing a non conference champion to another, and Bama wins that eye contest.
4. TCU loses to Iowa State and Kansas State. If they win either they're in ahead of Bama.
1-loss Michigan should they get blown out by OSU won’t win the comparison either.
There’s exactly zero chance if Bama wins the IB that the stinking Vols would be ahead. Getting run out of the building twice trumps winning on a last second field goal after the team missed one to win.
