He had Auburn 13th in his preseason poll. Auburn won and won ATS. They played a conference game and not a "cupcake", and they slide to 15th. I don't see much of an algorithm. Its just headline creating to keep Wisconsin in the Top 10 and move WVU into the poll.
If the excuse is that Arkansas was suppose to be "hot garbage" then what was WVU suppose to be?

LSU fans keep bringing up that his poll is based on "on the field" results. LSU's on the field results were suspect at best. Heck half of LSU's fanbase were lighting their torches at halftime.

You would think after 2004 that all Auburn fans would embrace someone who actually thinks outside of the herd while ranking football teams. Sadly, memories fade.

Then you aren't paying attention. The biggest problem I saw with his poll WAS Auburn being so low....and I liked the poll.

I think Arkansas will show themselves to be greatly improved. Ok, at least improved. The problem is, with the West so even this year they might not imprve on their record much.

I agree. As I said...the only problem I had was Auburn being so low.
That said. I THINK he has Georgia a bit high...but he based it on the first week. Based on that, I can understand why he put us there. It will work itself out soone or later.

I don't think the guy's system is the best way to do it, but it is a reasonable way to do it and better than most. He makes a concerted effort to have his poll, over time, eliminate the prejudices created by preseason speculation. As a result of sticking to his system, his poll looks a little goofy early in the season. Not a big deal if you understand his methodology.

No kidding. That he isn't locked into the, they lost so move them down 6 maybe 7 spots without regard to the winning team or previous results makes his method vastly superior to the standard one utilized.

Sure I think AU should be higher, but, we looked pretty bad for the first half of the game (which is all we have so far this season) against a team that probably isn't very good and won't finish with a winning record. Had we blown Arky out from the get-go I'd have some real issue with this poll.
I guess you could say the same thing about LSU, but, it seemed obvious to me that Wisky will be a good team this year.
