Seneca SC , which is across the lake from Clemson, was named by Thrillist the best lake town in the south. A big reason is proximity to Clemson, America's college town.

The gulf beaches in that area are some of the prettiest in the world, no doubt. But the surfing sucks.

East Coast Beaches suck. You have to go to Maine to find any decent ones and there it is too cold to get in the water.

Mississippi is not the best by any means, but I for one enjoy living a on quite lake, no big city traffic, and plenty of great hunting and fishing close by.

If I want to visit those places I'm conveniently located. Couple hours drive to the best beaches in the US (Florida panhandle), 5 hour drive to the TN mountains. Sure I have to put up with corrupt politicians but its not better anywhere else.

I can agree with that. In Columbia you are 3 hours away from nice places.

quote: “Sea Island is about the same as Fairhope, but the East Coast beaches suck. Brunswick is a shite hole.” I swear you Auburn grads perfectly reflect your school’s 80% acceptance rate. What a joke. Take a look on realtor.com and tell me the price difference between homes in Sea Island vs. Fairhope. Out of staters actually want to live in GA. Again, Alabama is viewed as the cousin fricking capital of the country. Look dumbass, I was stationed at both Pensacola and Jacksonville. There is no comparison of the beaches. My father was stationed at Hunter AAF twice, so I know that area well. Sea Island is nice and remote, the beaches are better than most on the East Coast, but that is mainly due to its remoteness. Tybee Island is on par with Dauphin Island, both places are nothing to write home about. Go to Orange Beach, Destin or Pensacola and see how many tourist are from the Atlanta area. Same distance to those beaches as it is to Sea Island, I guess all those people are not recipients of the Hope Scholarshi

See, this is that Aubie mentality in a nutshell. You're trying to make some kind of sense, but it's just not happening. It must be all of the crop dusting they do in Alabama, or maybe it's the inbreeding.

Sure there are more tourists from Atlanta in Destin, etc. than there are on Sea Island. You want to know why (and how I know you've never been on Sea Island)? It's because Sea Island is private. Access to Sea Island is limited to guests, residents, members, and those with reservations to the Georgian Room restaurant at the Cloister. They don't have a fraction of the hotel rooms of the tourist places you mentioned, and for good reason. They don't want tourists.

Destin used to be fairly nice. But now it's overcrowded with people who used to go to Panama City and have found their way West. You know, the jort and mullet crowd, like yourself.

Yall crazy.

I love living in Missouri.

It's cheap living, floating down the river getting fricked up in the summer, hitting the lake half of the year, country living.

I've lived in many states and always got homesick pretty quick. My least favorite is Kansas.

My only complaint is the same complaint Arkansas would have is the damn meth heads that you see in the southern part of the state. Only complaint.

Mississippi or Alabama? Neither have much going for them
Mississippi by far!

Fairhope and Orange Beach in Alabama are nice areas.

Besides the Miss Gulf Coast, the entire State of Mississippi is void of anything worth going anywhere near.

I would have ranked South Carolina higher, but there is just something weird about the Carolina's to me. I'm not sure what it is exactly.

Or, maybe I'm smart enough to realize it's just an opinion based on personal experiences and you're just butthurt because I named your shitty state in the top2.

Because it's my fault you live in a mostly flat muddy state where the most popular state event is watching the Mississippi river flood.

Looks like someone doesn’t get out much.Maine?

You ever heard of South Hampton?Cape Cod?Outer Banks?Nantucket?Kiawah?

Technically the sand is softer and whiter and if your whole purpose in your vacation is staying at the beach all day and rubbing your toes in sand drinking a
a case of Natty Lights, eating a bologna sandwich, surrounded by trashy people in 98 degree heat and God awful high rises than go ahead, knock yourself out.

I will say 30A,Pensacola and Siesta Key are actually worth visiting but not in the Summer. No idea why so many people visit that area in July and August...the only time I go i# in October,March or April.

I go to Cape Cod for almost every summer vacation and there's no way in hell you could get me to switch places for vacation.
