Good one. I'd say Buck Belue or Cardale Jones. Jones, in particular, was a terrible qb by any measure.

1992 Jay Barker is easily the worst of the Bama QB's.
Alabama scored 34 points against Miami in the Sugar Bowl without Barker throwing a single TD pass.

No he wasn't that good. Didn't hardly need touch at all. Huge arguments back then you could have stuck any QB back there.
In 1991-1992, he was 433/773 for 6,155 yards with 39 TD's and 15 INT's.
He's not the worst QB to win a frickin' national championship.

You suspect that because your coonass brain is retarded.
A.J. McCarron was one of the best QB's to ever play the game of college football.

Greg McElroy would have been a better name for the list.
3 NC's, two as starter.

People can say what they want about McElroy, but he got game time in the NFL and threw a TD pass. He was probably better than most realize.
The OSU QB that won it in 2014 ended up burning out pretty quick.
Buck Belue wasn't very good.
Homer Jordan was probably worse in 1981.
John Shaffer of PSU in 1986 is probably the worst.
Pretty hard to win it these days without a good one.

I don't believe he belongs in the conversation. He was very solid for Miami's 1987 national championship team (threw two TD's in a 20-14 win over a really good Oklahoma team) and played several years in the NFL.

Belue- would be close to the bottom.
Barker- played well in big games and definitely had some games where he led the offense. Wasn't an NFL talent, but I wouldn't say he was near the bottom.
Jordan- I'd agree that he's near the bottom.
Shaffer- Maybe the bottom.
Walsh?- Guy had good stats, played in the NFL. Stuck around for a few years with a clip board. Longer than McElroy did.
Rice- He wasn't a great passer, but was the main cog in that offense. You take him out and they aren't winning the title.
Hobert- Spent nine seasons in the league. If you are trash, they aren't gonna pay you.
Blackledge- Thought he was a good weapon in a run first offense. Could throw a good deep ball off play action. First round pick. Doubt he he should be at bottom.
Tee- Had a great senior year and was very efficient. Was never an NFL type, but in college he was good when he had to be.

Touchdown pass? shite. The bar was a lot lower than that for Barker. He almost threw more interceptions than completions. He was 4/13 for 18 yards and two interceptions. It doesn't get much worse than that.
I was at that game as a 14 year old, though. It was a fun day.

But, Barker was the worst NC winning QB at Bama to win in at Bama in the specified time frame.
Who, this guy? (graphic from the SEC championship vs UF)
To his credit, he improved every year after this. But man, talk about a weak link on that '92 team.

The quarterback from LSU’s 2003 National Championship team…

Matt Flynn and Matt Mauck were both very average, had elite running backs and great defenses to lean on.

Agree with this. He was a good fit for the 1988-89 ND teams. His only loss in two years was to a revenge-minded Miami team in the Orange Bowl back when winning there was damn near impossible.

Had UGA pulled off the 82 national title John Lastinger would win this in a runaway landslide. Dude hit 40 percent of his passes for 875 yds for the season. Randy Campbell of Auburn, out of the wishbone, threw for as many yds with a higher completion percentage. Lastinger may have been the worst starting QB in the modern era of the SEC. He did finish it right with that run in the Cotton Bowl though to take down the Whorns.

1st team All SEC in '80 and '81 and led the conference in passing efficiency both years but for some reason the '80 NC seems to be the only thing remembered on here.
You can only compare him against who he played against and the time he played.
