Where is that exactly? Viruses come and go. They evolve and are propagated through natural population migrations. Even if you threw every dollar the US collected through taxes at epidemiology it wouldn’t prevent outbreaks. People have seen too many movies, true pandemics are extremely rare and require truly unique circumstances. Coronavirus has nothing in common with those other than hysteria

No, does blindly and unquestionably believing everything the media "experts" tell you without considering the context of what you're hearing or reading get old?

I know my response was political and highly cynical of the media and their motives but the last three years have made it obvious to anyone willing to be honest that the media will report things wildly out of context and will outright blatantly lie when it supports their agenda.

No one is suggesting that this virus shouldn't be taken very seriously and every reasonable precaution shouldn't be taken when it comes to big public gatherings especially indoor ones. No one is suggesting that things can't or won't get worse. What I and others are suggesting is that life goes on and shutting down society over this is a wildly disproportionate and potentially much more damaging response than taking reasonable precautions. Being highly cynical of the media's irresponsible response and their motives for it is not a tin foil hat response. Their behavior these last 3 years proves they are more than willing to inflict maximum damage to this country if it helps their agenda. They should absolutely report on it and take it seriously but do so responsibly and in context. That's all people here who disagree with you are saying.

A reasonable action would be going ahead with the NCAA tournament with minimal or even no crowds if necessary at the host sites instead of cancelling the tournament altogether.

We know what the flu is. We know when flu season is. We have vaccines for it.

We don’t know the potential of this virus. That’s the entire point. How many need to die or get sick before you think we should do anything? Do you have a number in mind?

What is it that people think should be done, but isn't being done?

It seems like people want action for the sake of action, not because there are actual positive measures that can be taken.

Also, what do people make of the numbers in Germany, where they have done way more testing and also counts people who probably wouldn't have gone to the doctors at all?

Widespread testing and quarantines. Most certainly no fans to watch these games.

More testing only goes towards debunking the severity of the problem. As we seen in Germany.

And not sure why anyone would have a problem with people choosing to go to an event. It's not like they are being forced to do so.

Covid-19 is not the flu. We have a vaccine for the flu. We have anti-viral medications designed to treat the flu. We have a sense of what to expect when we catch the flu, and when it’s necessary to seek medical attention. Doctors have experience treating the flu, and tests to help diagnose the flu, right there in the office, while you wait.

Because we need to limit the spread of this. Idiots won’t do it themselves.

I posted this in another thread:

WHO just officially declared this a Global Pandemic. Also, this just happened.

Coronavirus: Top Trump Expert Warns "Many Millions Could get sick or Die" "The Corona Virus is 10x More Lethal Than the Flu"

quote:

The White House's top infectious disease official said the number of Americans who could get sick or die from the coronavirus if the country does not implement an "aggressive" response could be "many, many millions".

Anthony Fauci, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director, told the House Oversight and Reform Committee that Trump administration officials "cannot predict" a number of Americans who will contract the novel virus because it is still crafting and putting in place its response.

He warned lawmakers against "sitting back" and getting "complacent."

"It is going to be totally dependent on how we respond to it. I can't give you a realistic number" at this point, Mr Fauci told lawmakers.

There are very few things I hate more in this world than people who fear monger.
