We know what the flu is. We know when flu season is. We have vaccines for it.
We don’t know the potential of this virus. That’s the entire point. How many need to die or get sick before you think we should do anything? Do you have a number in mind?

Are you going to let fear mongering scare you? Should we just stop society until this thing goes away? Should all flights just be canceled? Should businesses and corporations shut down for a couple of months? Life goes on: before, during, and after this type of shite.

You want to think that you really sound educated but the simple truth is that this has been exaggerated for political purposes. China has a population of 1.5 billion people and its pretty safe to say that a large percentage of their population has been exposed to it considering most display no symptoms and their extremely dense population centers on the eastern coast of China where it was hardest hit. Yet, only a few thousand people died from it. That is an infinitesimal percentage for a nation with an extremely high poverty rate. The truth is some want it to be a problem just so they can say they were right and blame someone. Earth altering pandemics don’t skip 80-90% of the population and largely remain symptomless. Of course those with weakened immune symptoms are susceptible to it, as they are with any other infection or virus that healthy individuals can overcome. This isn’t unique to the Coronavirus.

China has poor healthcare and and extremely dense population
This is the effect of the virus in China
.0062% of chinese people have been infected
.00024% of chinese people have died
It is ludicrous this is having any change in our society

Only you fricking idiots will discredit any media saying virus bad but 100% believe the numbers China puts out even though they tried to hide the shite in the first place
places everywhere are taking actions to prevent the spread but go on thinking it can’t happen.

But I am just perplexed at why people dont care to take these "preventive measures" for the flu, which does kill around 50k annually in the US alone
We take different preventive measures with the flu considering it’s different virus (it’s actually a set of viruses), and the fact that we know a lot about it already.

People are taking steps and the medical field is currently working on a vaccine. Your issue is that if people aren’t walking around wearing nothing but deer pelts and roasting their neighbors over an open fire then “nothing” is being done. That’s the issue at hand not the actual implementation of precautions. If we aren’t freaking out as much as you think we should then we are “stupid”. Yet, the “intelligent“ ones are stocking up on toilet paper and water as if the paper industry is on the verge of collapse and drinking water is contaminated?

This entire Coronavirus panic shows just how easy it is to manipulate the moronic American public. The average American is afraid of his or her shadow and would gladly cede every freedom to the government or some quasi-authority figure just to "feel" safer. When this scare is over we'll be back to Russians or North Korean nuclear war.

We know the flu will kill 50,000 people in America this year, yet people still congregate at games and events
However, when a new viral strain comes about that kills 4K worldwide, WE CANT ACCEPT THE POSSIBILITIES OF KILLING MORE PEOPLE

They tried to hide it for economic purposes not some ill conceived biological warfare. I thought a powerful government taking control of everything was the answer?

Holy fricking projection dude
I’ve said none of that shite. I don’t even think they should cancel the big dance. My issues are with the people saying it’s nothing and it only effects the elderly.
I’d be perfectly ok with holding the games to a small VIP crowd.
There IS a middle ground between Dan Wolken and your average rantard, believe it or not.

Isn’t taking self precautions and avoiding large crowds if you are susceptible, middle ground? Canceling everything and mass quarantines is the very definition of extreme measures.
Posted on 3/11/20 at 9:56 am to Rip Torn
We aren’t talking about mass quarantines yet as those are necessary only if it truly gets out of control. If you are mad blame the idiots in charge of this couuntry (both r and d) because their failure to be proactive leaders resulted in us ending up here.

People do care that people don’t get the vaccine. Have you not been paying attention the last few years?
Also I guarantee you there is overlap between people who don’t get the vaccine and people who don’t believe in CV.
