I just don’t think taking into account the money the recruits the boosters, that the University as a whole not just athletics can absorb being literally the laughingstock of the college sports world.

National championships boost the academic side of every school that wins one, this situation will hurt the university as a whole and will be compounded by allowing it to linger.

I think they have to fire him or pay way more in the long run.
But they may not, we will see.

This is where I am at. The football program (for better or worse) represents the brand of the university.

No logical person would go to the University of Alabama or LSU for an education. But your football team is your brand.

A&M and Texas do not have that problem with $20 billion dollar endowments.

With that said, I think most people look at it as a lump sum. But it’s actually not. We can pay over a few years.

From a business perspective, we are paying to lose. And with each game that goes by, we are losing recruits and kicking the can down the road.

This is an opportunity loss right now.

They would love to fire him. They just can’t afford it.

The “A&M has unlimited resources” line is very similar to “A&M will compete for Championships”. Both are lies.

Honest answer is as Gentleman said, the money can be raised if it has to be, but the boosters will be royally pissed if it comes to that.

I mean can you blame them? I don’t care how rich you are that’s a big fricking check just to make someone go away. Then you’re going to have to cut another one immediately after to bring in someone else.

I bet Auburn could give them some advice on the subject.

Aggy should call West Virginia and work something out where Jimbo “leaves” with a settlement that’s defrayed but what he makes at WVU.

Not at all. And that's honestly my biggest concern with the buyout.

The money is big, but it's not impossibly big (for any major CFB program, and anyone who says otherwise doesn't grasp the current financials of the game at this level).

What I'm most worried about is if the boosters have to pony up that much unexpectedly, they're going to get much more micro-managerial in the future, and A&M will end up with a mess of competing booster egos demanding to have input in the program's decisions like at Texas or Auburn.

Jimbo got all coaches' dream scenario when he came to A&M. Massive booster support and free reign to run the program as he saw fit. If he fricks that up for future A&M coaches, that would be the worst possible outcome long term IMO.
