With The Sorsby Ruling, Will We Ever Trust Game Results Ever Again?

Saying it’s ok to bet on your own games now tells all of the players that it’s ok to bet on yourself (good or bad) and ruins the integrity of college sports betting moving forward.
Will we ever be able to trust it again? Congress really needs to step up now or it will forever be lost.

Someone will eventually get made of an example, but it unfortunately won’t be Sorsby although it should be.

The simple answer is no. This isn't a slippery slope. It's a mud slide. He would have been banned in any other sport.

No. Every incomplete pass, dropped pass, fumble, missed field goal, or ole block will be suspect from now on.

One thing to keep in mind is that this case is not over. He’s just been granted an injunction to prevent punishment until his case his heard. Generally, the NCAA drops pursuit bc it becomes a moot point, player gets to play. I think here they’ll fight this to the end, a case which they should win, to establish the point that gambling is not acceptable.

All Tech really accomplished here is showing the rest of the CFB world who they really are. They will eventually see that this wasn't worth it.

Read an article last night in the Houston Chronicle. The first step in the process is for the appeal to go to a federal court in Amarillo, and that the 4 judges that make up this court are all graduates of Texas Tech Law School (no you can't make this up). Next step would be a court in Austin. But it was saying none of this will happen fast enough for him to not be able to play in Fall 2026 via the temp injunction.
Yeah it's total BS. Would love for everyone to simply boycott Tech but not sure how that plays with TV contracts. As someone else posted maybe the NCAA can just deep Tech ineligible for CFP (and order the refs to swallow their whistle on certain plays...)

There is very little integrity left in major college athletics any longer. You think these players are giving it their all? Basketball is the worst followed closely by football. Most of them play hard when they feel like it.

They basically made it to where guys on the bench can place bets on gameplan going into games and push for over/unders on their teammates hitting certain yardage or doing unders.
Knowing the game plan going into a game with X receiver not being the focus this weekend is a hell of a lot more insight than what an average bettor would have and now with the injunction what’s stopping athletes from doing this? If they get caught they just claim mental health conditions and reference the Sorsby v NCAA ruling

Swallowing the whistles is over the top especially when you’re wanting to claim keep the integrity of the game intact. I say the NCAA just keeps Tech out of the playoff contention if they want to play players that have violated NCAA rules

If we all believe that the NCAA (or maybe the conferences) have been known to lean on refs, maybe they put their finger on the scales here and he gets the Cam Newton treatment.

I’m ready for sec and big ten to break away with player contracts that lock them in for three to four years with equitable pay for players that all universities can afford. Leave the other sport part of the ncaa. I want fair transfer rules as well. If they’re going to be NFL then let it be like the NFL as much as possible.
