This only works if Michigan and Florida State lose. Otherwise, this is an elimination game. If Alabama wins, they're in. You can't put Alabama in and leave Texas out. If head to head doesn't matter, then what's the point in playing the games? Michigan isn't losing to Iowa. Oregon/Washington winner is getting in.

Alabama won’t jump from 8 to 4 the same way Georgia won’t fall from 1 to 5

Show me where the number one team who has won 28 straight games and back to back championships has fallen from number one to number five in the final week?

And the teams that jumped them had a strength of schedule that is a joke

I’ll hang up and listen

1) You're assuming these rankings are legitimately how they see the current slate, and not a way to drum up interest and clicks

2) Even if they are being completely sincere with their rankings, would Georgia losing to BY FAR the best team they've played this year, who already has a loss themselves, and hasn't always been the steadiest team in the country kind of say UGA's 12-0 was a bit fraudulent?

Like does anyone really think Oregon, Texas, Washington, Ohio St, Michigan, or Bama couldn't also go 12-0 against the schedule UGA has faced? Not that all of those teams would, but all of them sans maybe Washington are certainly capable.

If bama wins a close game... they go no higher than #5 and at on the outside looking in. What are they looking at, UGA sitting at #4.

Michigan
PAC-12 Champ
FSU and/or Texas

IF FSU or Texas drops their game, Bama.

This really isn't nearly as hard as many of you are making it out to be. They aren't going to put a team Bama just beat one spot higher than they are when the one team Bama lost to might be ranked higher than both of them

Bama is ranked below Texas now despite better numbers because of the head to head. In the scenario where UGA gets in with a loss and Bama doesn't, if Texas wins they are 3, UGA 4, Bama 5. Its not a reach at all, its actually really simple.

Has zero to do with playoff selection criteria for this year

Even with the loss Georgias résumé to be in the final four will be greater than teams currently sitting at eight through five regardless of how those teams finish this season

It wouldn't be better than Bama's resume.

That’s not what playoff committee members have said in the past

They have stated many times that they take into consideration schedule and the “eye” test

If Georgia loses to Alabama they still are top 4

A lot of scenarios will play out this weekend.
Personally I think Georgia wins anyway.
Oregon will take down Washington. FSU falls in OT to Louisville. Texas wins.
1. Georgia
2. Michigan
3. Oregon
4. Texas

Ok, so then the previous two years have nothing to do with this year's selection

Are you just fricking with everyone?

If the win, they're in. If the lose they're out.

That applies to both schools.

Nope...

CBS will keep Alabama out again.

I think it would be difficult for the committee to put Texas in over Alabama on the basis of Texas having the head to head win, and then also leave Georgia in the top 4 over Alabama if Alabama has a head to head win over Georgia.
