Recruiting to LSU football with the insane facilities and instate talent is ENTIRELY different than recruiting to LSU basketball with average facilities and average instate talent.

In other words, with alleva at the helm, I expect the woodlawn high coach to be hired instead.

So no those guys arent even remotely similar hires.

But yes, I agree that it is risky. But it is the only way to potentially hire a great coach at most SEC programs. You are going to have to take a risk.

Way too much jelly on the toast in this thread.

I couldn't tell you much about Will Wade, but this thread makes me like him.

Average talent is good enough to finish in the top four of the SEC.

How did you guys feel about buzz Williams
Would rather Wade or Keatts personally. Wade really intrigues me because of just how young he is, and his complete analytical approach to the game.

I am fully expecting to be heartbroken in the next 4 hours though and we somehow announce Kermit Davis

Where did he go to high school in Nashville?

However, while Chattanooga was coming off 2 bad seasons, they are a historically good basketball program that had been pretty solid just before the 2 year downturn.

He brought a team that went 24-40 the two years prior to 40-25 and had their best season in 15 years. As a 30 year old first time coach.

He also invented Shaka Smart's "havoc" press that is so famous. He's a great basketball X and O mind, called an analytics junkie, and has a lot at both stops.

He's young, energetic, and has no ties to better programs that would steal him away in 2 years.

I'll fricking take it.

He is really young for the spot and I would worry about his lack of recruiting ties to the area.

I don't want a coach with ties from LA. He has most recently recruited the biggest talent pool areas in basketball on the east coast. That's the ties I want a coach to have.

Louisiana has never had a talent problem with any major sport. We've had problems keeping the talent at home. We've also been unfortunate to have recent coaches who either didn't recruit or couldn't coach. Louisiana may not be as deep as the north east, but talent has never been a problem.

Just have to keep the few really goods on campus longer than 1 year to have a complete team and with a good bench.
