Georgia was far closer to winning the SEC last season than LSU. Florida was closer to winning the SEC than LSU (better record, head-to-head).

Yet I'm dumb for saying that the SEC didn't come down to LSU and Alabama last season?

LSU finished tied for second in the West...

Dude the fact that you don't realize that the LSU-Bama game had a HUGE affect on the SEC last year is kind of sad. Maybe you really are mentally challenged.

Damn, you might be too slow to argue with. The OPs post is a little more nuanced than you realize. The LSU / Bama winner goes to Atlanta last year and that has spelled SEC champ for the West winner the last 4 years.

There's very little to no nuance in the OP's post.

The SEC West came down to LSU and Alabama last season. The SEC? Different story.

The team that won the SEC not being in the SECCG doesn't affect the outcome? Wow.

My OP implied the SEC West champ will win the SEC again

Every game between contenders had a huge effect on the SEC race.

Whichever team wins the SEC and goes on the BCSNCG will be a 1 loss team. Bama and LSU are two very powerful teams and aTm has the ability to pull off an upset on either one.

Then 14-6 must have really be embarrassing.

No, but claiming that getting dominated in the Sugar Bowl by Louisville is > losing on a last second FG to Clemson is laughable.

Reading comprehension isn't your strong suit, apparently.

Obviously that game had a huge effect on the SEC race, as did UF-UGA, LSU-A&M, UGA-USC, etc. To say that the entire SEC came down between Alabama and LSU last season is either dumb or simply a flame directed towards the East.

Edit: It's the latter.

Almost losing to last season's Auburn is just as embarrassing as our performance against ULL.

Auburn hung on for dear life to keep it close at home. Florida snatched victory from the jaws of defeat at home. AU > UL-Laffy too.

Well seeing as the SEC has come down to the winner of LSU-Bama the last 2 years I'd say it's a reasonable assumption to expect the same this coming year. Wouldn't you?

If I'm not mistaken, the SEC came down to UGA and bama last year, not bama and LSU. And it was between UGA and LSU the year before.

No, because that's not how the world works. I guess if you flip a coin 20 times in a row and it's heads every time you assume it'll be heads the next time right? Only you'd be completely wrong, logic wise. What happened in 2012 has no bearing on what will happen in 2013.

As long as the winner of that game is Alabama, then sure.

The winner of the LSU-Bama game has won the SEC the last 2 years so actually I'm right.

Fair Enough. But I will make a ban bet with anyone on here that the winner of the LSU-Bama game wins the SEC again.

They've won the west. They don't crown the SEC champion in early november though, they do that in the SECCG. So no, the bama/lsu game has not and has never determined the sec champion.

I'm not going to do that because both teams should be very good and they certainly have a chance to win the SEC. Nobody is saying otherwise. But to assume they will SIMPLY based on the fact that that's what's happened the last 2 years is a complete logical fallacy. That'd be like saying the winner of UGA/UF will win the east this year just because of the last 2 years. Could that be the case? Of course, sure. But SC will be up there as well, and the loser of that game will also have a chance too with some breaks.

Physically they are far above the rest in my opinion. Florida maybe also. But Bama and LSU are usually the most physical teams and can both wear opponents down

Bowl games dont mean a thing unless it is the BCS title. They are exhibition games

I'm not going to take this bet because Alabama has a very good chance of repeating.

LSU, though? Enjoy third place in the West.

I'm not saying that's the only reason but to assume that game is going to be trivial as your fellow gator fan is is just as faulty logic wise. I'm just saying the winner of that game has won the SEC the last 2 years so to assume it to happen again isn't unreasonable.
