see that's the thing, he's like a cool tebow, and because of that he's gonna probably have more detractors. tebow made christians and those with morals feel better about losing to him. JFF wont do the same.

No. Tebow had the Christian thing going for him too, so he was worshipped outside College Football Nation too. Tebow was national news, the new guy is more confined to the sports page. Another thing—to come anywhere close to the Tebow hype, JF is gonna have to lead A&M to a national title.

Tebow hype was created by ESPN while Tim was still in HS. I'm not sure if Manziel will be able to surpass that. I hope not. It's gets old quick.

This may be the first time you haven't trolled the hell out of post of mine. I feel like this needs to be documented and noted. You feelin' okay sweets?

No. Half the Tebow hype centered around his chracter and status as an outspoken christian. Can't really top that solely on the field.

No, because he won't win the West, SEC title or NC much less, his entire 4 years at aTm.

Until Johnny Football travels to Africa to help build churches for poor tribal communities, or until Johnny Football is photographed by the paparazzi shaking hands with Christ......

No.

it wouldn't shock me. manziel isn't as polarizing and will probably leave most of the bible banging shite at the door step which will make him less of a chochbag. if they get on cbs more next season, drunk uncle verne will lather him up a good bit and danielson will get some love in as well.

I don't think he can surpass Tebow - in my opinion. He won championships and had great teams, teammates, and fans. A&M's team is not up to Florida levels.

No, for several reasons.

1)Tebow was one of the top ranked QBs in the country so he already had mega hype coming into the SEC
2)He went to a bigger name brand school
3)His freshman year he contributed to his team winning a title, which JM won't get this year
4)He was the first sophomore to win the heisman (JM may or may not get this, who knows)
5)He won another title as a junior
6)He's "mr perfect", a virgin, doesn't cuss, drink, do anything wrong, blah blah

All that combined and I just don't see the media slobbering all over themselves over anyone else like they did with tebow

I suppose it's possible but it would be very different because so much of Tebow's hype was not about his play but rather him as a person. If Manziel wins the Heisman this year and then next year wins it again plus A&M wins a Natty then who knows.

Though odds are against that scenario it isn't impossible by any stretch. A&M has 8 home games next year (including Bama) and gets Vandy and Mizzou from the East and well timed bye weeks and cupcakes between the tougher games. Realistically if A&M beats Bama at Kyle early then the odds favor A&M being undefeated going to BR late in the year. Compare that to this season with 12 weeks in a row and 5 road games in 6 weeks. If the 3 1st Rounder Jrs all return watch out.

Once again, I don't expect the above to happen but it isn't some crazy pie in the sky scenario. It's a lot more likely than what A&M has done this year. Another interesting phenomena though is if you look at BCS Champs over the last 15 years or so many of them have been by coaches in their first 3 years as coaches:

'98 UT Fulmer 2nd year
'99 FSU N/A
'00 OU Stoops 2nd year
'01 Miami Coker 1st year
'02 Ohio State Tressels 2nd year
'03 LSU Saban's 3rd year
'04 USC Carroll's 3rd year
'05 Texas N/A
'06 Florida Meyer's 2nd year
'07 LSU Miles 3rd year
'08 Florida N/A but Meyer's 4th year
'09 Bama Saban's 3rd year
'10 Auburn Chizek's 2nd year
'11 Bama N/A but Saban's 5th year

My bad on Fulmer. For some reason I thought he took over in '97.

I will go off in my newbie corner now and spend 2 hours studying SEC history.

I didn't realize JFF was having such a good season stats wise. Here are his numbers compared to Tebow's (both first year starting)

Tebow:
234/350 (66.9%) for 3,286 yards 32 TDs & 6 INTs (172.5 rating)
210 rushing attempt for 895 yards & 23 TDs

Manziel:
227/336 (67.6%) for 2,780 yards 18 TDs & 6 INTs (151.2 rating)
156 rushes for 1,014 yards & 15 TDs

That's pretty damn good.
