As far as the original question, absolutely. It really just comes down to the coaching advantages, IMO. That's where the biggest gap between the divisions is at the moment, IMO. Right now, the most proven coach in the East is at South Carolina. If Muschamp and Dooley turn out to be good hires, the gap won't look nearly as large in a couple years, but at the moment, the West definitely seems way in front in that department.

Better question, will Arkansas ever win the SEC in football? Whether in the East or West?

I think it's fairly safe to say that Arkansas will never win the East.

istorically the top 3 in the East are stronger than the top 3 in the west

Top 3 in the East (UF, UGA, UT) have 34 SEC championships and 11 national championships.

Top 3 in the West (Bama, Auburn, LSU) have 42 SEC championships and 18 national championships.

So, you're wrong sir.

Richt is holding them back. I suggest no money on them till he's gone.

Then again they finally got a new strength & conditioning coach and I hear the team is actually working out in the offseason now.

The fact that Ole Miss used to be historically relevant easily tips the scales to the West's favor.

But let's look on the bright side, the Big Six have won 71 of the 79 SEC championships

'12 and '13 will be very strong years from the East. It wouldn't surprise me if the SEC Champ came from the East in both of those years.

With solid years in 2011 and not losing key players early to NFL(Alshon Jeffery...etc).
Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and Tennessee could all be preaseason top 15 in 2012.

Auburn and LSU will be absolutely stacked those years

LSU should be good in 2012 but will probably be reloading in 2013.

Beat me to it, can't speak for Auburn, but with all the hype for 2011 for LSU it looks like the team is better suited for a 2012 run than a 2011 one (but they could easily have a great run both seasons).

Tennessee returns 19 starters in 2012 and only loses 2 of those starters for 2013. Tennessee's recruiting rankings for those core classes are 9 and 13, a step below AU and LSU, but they will have an insane amount of SEC experience, particularly offensively, where we were starting 8 freshman last year.

Well depending on who is in position to go pro a year early, we could have almost the same lineup as we'll have this upcoming season in '12 and '13, except more depth and 2 years of experience.

The East will eventually bounce back. I like Mark Richt but I don't think he's going to be at Georgia much longer. If Georgia can hire someone like Gary Patterson then I think the giant that is UGA will wake up and be a national power. Tennessee will be down for a while but will eventually get back on their feet. Muschamp at Florida seems like a good hire, but he's got to let Charlie Weis know who is boss.

I expect Dooley to have an 8 or 9 win season, but nothing more. The foundation for the next coach should be pretty solid, however. If Dooley is fired after an 8 win season as I suspect he will be, the job will look much more attractive than it did in 08 or 09.

You think you guys would fire Dooley after an 8 win season his second season? I know you guys have high expectations and everything but dang. I would expect to give him at least 3 years
