Simmons Erosion will give $1000 to Make a Wish Mississippi for every touchdown Rogers throws.
Performance based deal but player doesn’t get the money. Interesting.

That’s quite cool and will net a good chunk of change for Make a Wish at the rate Rogers has been slinging the ball.

This is AWESOME. Hopefully this type of NIL deal will spread and we'll see it more often. Kindness is cool.

His financial advisor told him that it would be better to do that, so in case he got another big NIL deal that put him in a bigger tax bracket, he could write that off and if he has a great year, it’ll be like he made little to nothing on paper.

It’s very cool he’s doing this, but I don’t get how it works, this is just someone donating on his behalf or is he getting paid that money, and he donates it? I thought if you ever got hit with a “donation has been made on your behalf”, the other person can write it off, not you
Like is the company donating using his likeness and image in their ads, or social media posts? So he’s giving them publicity for their product and in return they donate his pay? I’m trying to understand the NIL part

I thought performance based NILs were against the rules?

It’s an advertising expense for them so it’s not like they are losing any tax benefit.
It’s a win for everyone except the IRS.

It is. This isn't NIL since the player isn't profiting at all. Its what we used to call charity work.

Bad move imho. Get that money and make your own wish come true!

What?
This was ok even before the NIL laws changed.

Reminds me of the old fundraisers we had in elementary school where we'd get family members to pledge x amount of money for every made basket
