I wish he would and hope I'm dead wrong because the last thing we need is a redshirt freshman coming in at qb if Stevens gets hurt. However, the chances of him staying after he loses the job are slim to none IMO. Everyone says the correct things until they end up on the bench behind someone on campus for 3 months. I'm sure he has all intentions of winning the job and is not thinking about transferring right now, but once reality hits him in the face and he realizes he will never be what Moorhead is looking for, he will leave.

I think that's a possibility but also imo he's never redshirted and he maybe able to sell him on being the starter his last two years

Dak didn't start till his Junior and senior year. Same with Tyler Russell.

If Joe wanted to redshirt him he would have done it last year. He could have easily redshirted him last year but chose to play him in mop up duty in a bunch of games. Hopefully he will redshirt, but even if he does I don't see him beating out Mayden or Shrader once they have been in the system for multiple years. He just isn't accurate.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion but if what you write comes to pass that puts us on a slippery slope.

Transfers are a mixed bag. If this works out and Stevens earns the job, all well and good.
But you are saying it is already a done deal and that he is guaranteed to start. If that is the case, that is very poor IMO.

Evaluating a player in practice versus actual game action are two different things. I still maintain that KT does not have enough actual game experience to fairly evaluate him.

With our senior QB graduating, the position should be wide open at this point and may the best QB earn the starting slot.

unless he's made leaps and bounds over the last 6 months he will not beat out Stevens. he doesn't process things fast enough. Sure he was great in HS, but he had all day to throw the ball. repetition can help that some, but ya either got it or ya don't. I hope he gots it but is cool developing one more year. I don't think the other 2 guys make the jump to beat him out next year.

Speaking of Moorhead. He isn't the same old fattie he was last year. Good for him.

He has not been guaranteed a starting spot. He has been guaranteed that he is going to be the best qb on the roster when he steps on campus and if he does what he is supposed to do he will be the qb. That's basically the same thing but in terms that won't piss the team off. He's not coming without assurances after he left Penn State for the reasons he left.

FWIW. I have a lot of Penn State fans in the family. They love Tommy Stevens. If you need someone to run through a brick wall for you, he is the guy to ask.

Not if he's smart. Who was behind Fitz who was playing after a horrible injury?

That would have left a TRUE freshman(who redshirted).

Nope. It's football.

No it isn't. If he can't cut it during practices, then you know the pressure of the game is not going to magically make him better. Somethings are measurable.

You can maintain it all day. Moorhead 100% disagrees with you and that should be evident because he never replaced a QB who was not a great passer with KT, because he has gone after 3 grad transfers.

He's been evaluated.

To be honest.. If the Stevens kid never entered the portal, I would place money on Shrader being #2 and getting the start by year 2.

As it stands, this is what you are going to see.

Stevens start with KT either redshirting to learn more or being a huge contributor like the role Stevens played at Penn St. KT will get a lot of PT. if he does not Redshirt.

KT will take the spot next year with either 1 full year or 2! KT will not transfer.

Shrader will play in 4 games and redshirt. Mayden will play as needed.

In 2020, KT will be the starter. Shrader will be the #3.

Well obviously if Fitz gets hurt you would burn the redshirt. Fitz didn’t get hurt though and he didn’t redshirt him. You can play 4 games and still redshirt. He could have easily done that last year.
