Are you referring to 1971? ND won that game over UT in an upset.

I'm pulling for Notre Dame. No hate on the bama fans and players. I just can't pull for Nick Satan. He's an arrogant little prick!!!

No the Arkansas poster was correct, LSU was 9-1 in 1969, LSU had only 5 SEC games and was in position to be 10-0 but lost in the last 5 minutes or so when Archie Manning went crazy and rallied Ole Miss down 2 scores to win 27 to 25 or 23 whatever. LSU lost the SEC on winning %. TENN was 5-1, got boat raced by Ole Miss, LSU was 4-1. LSU I think petitioned the SEC to allow the Tulane game to count, Tulane had just left the SEC a few years earlier and the SEC designated the Tulane game an SEC game in 66, 67 and 68 I think to give LSU 6 I believe. The SEC in 69 said no designated games, LSU had 5.

Even at 9-1 LSU got the call for the Cotton to play Texas, before the papers were signed, Notre Dame decided to go bowling and they played in the 1970 Cotton Bowl, the Sugar bowl was set to invite LSU but they wanted a shot at Texas and did not take it so LSU was 9-1 consensus AP 10. Ole Miss who was 7-3 and ranked 13th was the SEC invitee to play Arkansas. TENN even though they were SEC champs, were not rated higher than LSU and because Ole Miss had Archie and had beat both TENN and LSU, the SEC took them as the SEC rep.

That heated up the Notre Dame game and Texas beat an 8-1-1 Notre Dame and won the AP and Coaches NC that year.

Alabama winning a title does nothing, its just another Alabama title.

If Clemson wins a title then they come here and talk shite all year and then there's basically two Alabamas.

Do with that what you will.

I'm not really going to pull for Bama but I can't stand Notre Dame so I hope Bama routs them. I pull for the SEC in bowl and playoffs games so the SEC will stay strong and get the best players. I realize that most fans don't see it that way but I'm old enough to have been a big Southwest Conference fan and I watched it destroy itself.

If I had to choose between rooting for a conference rival who I recruit against regularly and some midwestern has-been who my team never competes with for players, I know who I'd root for.

It’s kind of a weird question so who will Arkansas fans pull for?

Hate to say it but I'm pulling for Bama just because they represent the SEC and half the star players on the team is from my home state of Louisiana. I like to see players from Louisiana succeed.

This is exactly how I feel. Bama and aggy fans will be annoying with the "best team of all time" BS but they know its not true so whatever

Honestly, I'm not sure why people watch if their team isn't playing. I didn't watch the games last year.

Those are literally the two schools I root for other than LSU, so it’ll be tough, but I’m an SEC guy so I’m going Alabama. Kind of want a coaching change in South Bend.

Wolfhound45:

I am an old fart, remember listening to that game on the radio, the 1969 game. The 1970 game Notre Dame won 3-0 with Joe Theisman as QB (Spelling). LSU played Notre Dame in 1971 which was in reality Bert Jones coming out party, as Mac stuck with a 2 system QB. I was a kid at that Notre Dame game, the 2nd game I ever saw in person. My first was the 1970 Archie Who game.
