What’s crazy is that I think JT Daniels left meat on the bone in the passing attack last year. I remember watching him underthrow some of those deep passes against Mississippi state and cincy. I think he was still adjusting to his knee brace/feeling out his throwing motion after the injury. He could be even better this season than last.

Those numbers came from playing State, SC, Mizzou and he managed 1 TD and 1 pick against a G5 team in their bowl game.

Maybe hold off on celebrating that national title until after UGA plays Clemson, at least.

He threw for well above what they allowed on average vs 3 of those teams while overcoming a knee injury on a new team.

JT Yds (vs Opp Season Avg)
Miss St: 401 (263)
Cinci: 392 (214)
Mizzou: 299 (246)
S. Carolina: 139 (256)

JT Daniels won some games in the air at USC, I’d be stunted if he doesn’t have a year, is he injured or 100% healthy tho? I thought an injury derailed him

He played 3 mediocre to bad defenses, yes. He also shredded them, like a good QB is supposed to do. Watching the games, he clearly has the talent to bring the UGA passing game to the next level.

Moreover, the last 3 national title winning teams had QBs with no prior track record of stellar play. The other two elite teams entering the season (Bammer and Clemson) have unproven QBs. It’s okay for UGA fans to be excited about their potential with JT Daniels. They can win a title with him, no doubt in my mind.

Not saying he won't be any good. It isn't the QB position UGA has to overcome.

It's Kirby.

JT Daniels and UGA are not going to win a natty. They may win a meaningless Division Title in the weak arse SEC East, which isn't saying much.

Not really. His mechanics suck and they suck majorly when he is under pressure. Hence, the upper echelon teams who will pressure the hell out of Daniels will inevitably beat Daniels and UGA.

JT Daniels won't even finish with 2500 passing yards for the season.

Unless you think he's gonna be hurt or something this is the stupidest fricking take I've seen on here in a long time.

Cincinnati was known for having one of the best pass rush teams in the country. And before you say Cincinnati was not an upper echelon team they finished ranked #8 in the country. Pretty sure that was higher than LSU.

As a big believer in JT Daniels, I took a deep dive into how Georgia performed last year with him at QB.

Let us start with the most eyepopping number first: With JT Daniels on the field, the Bulldog offense averaged an astounding 7.5 yards per play! If we extrapolate this out over a full season, that would place the 2020 UGA offense among the top-10 most explosive offenses over the last 3 seasons.

Part of that was JT’s ability to push the ball downfield. JT had 22 completions of 20+ yards last year. That was more than 44 other FBS teams, in just 4 games!

The Bulldog offense also converted 57% on 3rd down with JT, compared to 41% without him on the field.

Georgia Offense w/ JT Daniels on the field
YPP – 7.5
Comp% - 67%
3rd Down% - 57
Offensive EPA – 70.3

Georgia Offense w/o JT Daniels on the field
YPP – 5.5
Comp% - 52%
3rd Down% - 41%
Offensive EPA – 2.9

I think UGA has the dogs to win it all this year and JT is a good bet to get at least an invite to NYC, if not win the whole thing.

What do you think?
I think not a chance in Hell, Kirby always shits the bed in BIG games, it doesn't matter how much talent UGA has. Bowl Cut Chokes

He would have to be ridiculously efficient. We were throwing it around a lot more with JT last year but even then we were running the ball 45% of the time.

I seriously doubt we will pass the ball enough for him to put up numbers that will compete with Rattler. He would have to be near Mac Jones level efficient to be considered.

Daniels averaged more pass attempts per game at Georgia in 2020 than Rattler did at Oklahoma.
