There's no way they're coming up with $90 million dollars and then paying a new coach and staff on top of that.
There are a lot of fans that can contribute if necessary. The gentleman I spoke with said they had already raised 40M in less than a day ...

This is the year where the coordinators are the sacrificial lamb. They will get 3-5 wins.

A&M can fire him whenever for cause without paying him a dime. All the hubbub this offseason about pay-for-play allegations may end up being the golden ticket that let's A&M terminate his contract without owing a dime.
Good luck hiring that next big time coach to replace him when it’s clear they sabotaged their own coach

No chance.
The defense isn't the problem. And the OC doesn't run the offense.
The problem is Jimbo's offense. Period.
And A&M knows this song and dance already. We lived it with Sherman. Good HC, who was too stubborn and devoted to an outdated offense to turn control of the offense over to modern OC. Donors won't fall for that excuse again.

A&M wouldn't even have to claim there's any legitimacy to the allegations. Even just a claim that allowing an appearance of impropriety to disseminate nationally, constituted a violation of his responsibility to conduct himself as an upstanding representative of the university would be enough to terminate for cause.
Thought we’re talking about the Saban spat. The argument that a rumor spreading is enough to fire him for cause, while the rumor is not true, is laughable. What is he supposed to do to stop the rumor, other than publicly denying it which he did, Mind control? He calls a press conference when Saban makes an insinuation and the admin backed Fisher on this. They cannot say that he was sitting by, he took action, they can’t say they disapproved of it because they publicly defended him. It’s a nonsensical argument and if I were him I’d say see you in court if that’s the tactic they choose.
That is unless the school knew it was true and by “allowing an appearance of impropriety to spread” it really means actually violating rules. And that’s the cause they are firing him for. But that’s the Pruitt approach and a completely different can of worms.
I was sincere when I said you have my sympathies. Barring Fisher turning things around, it is a real possibility that he gets his buyout or he sticks around for years with little incentive to perform.

Texas A&M donors should be spending more time figuring out why the school is signing such mentally retarded contracts in the first place
You are focussing on the wrong thing
Firing Jimbo and wasting more money does not change anything but it sure is funny watching Faggies getting their cash stolen

I have no idea why A&M extended him last summer when he had 6 more years left on his contract

We all might be getting ahead of ourselves, he may turn it around. But assuming he doesn’t, this is absolutely true
Which is pretty messed up. Why even have a contract if you are going to immediately start looking for pretense to weasel out of it, is the base assumption now supposed to be bad faith? Why not put some performance provisions in the contract instead of this bad faith then hunt for causes BS

In the not too distant past, LSU offered Fisher 13 million to coach there. Yeah, they offered that and to suck his peen if he’d give ‘em the chance.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but you know that's an angle they'll try

Recruiting. If a coach starts getting to the back end of his contract, other schools can try to claim to recruits he doesn't have institutional support

Your probably right. But I tbh if I were A&M after Jimbo ends in complete disaster, I’d try it. Give like a base salary of 2 million and then have a bunch of performance related bonuses, recruiting rank, record in conference, bowls, playoffs etc. with the wining a conference or national title having a huge payout like 20 million. While also having a bunch of penalties. So if you’ve got a sub .500 record the salary is reduced to 1 million, a loss to a G5 school is 250k. Severe bad performance (Back to back sub .500 seasons, a cumulative record of under .750) leads to firing regardless of years left on the contract.
ETA I know there are already incentives in these deals, I should clarify and point out they should be the bulk of the comp.

Ed O is available.

I do not believe that at all.

Perhaps they will reassign him to a different job with in the athletic department. Surely the parking lot needs to be swept after games.
