That exactly what I’m saying, two 10 win seasons over a 7 year period before Saban.
Between Bryant and Saban we had 10-win seasons in 1986, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1994, 1996, 1999, 2002, and 2005. That's nine 10-win seasons, three SEC championships, and a national championship in 23 years. Not too shabby for a program that had suffered through two crippling periods of NCAA probation and (mostly) below average coaching.

that doesn't bolster the argument how the series will run WITHOUT Bryant or Saban, since they were included in your time frame.
Meh, Bear was already dead in '82 and Saban hadn't built his team yet in 2007. Hell, even Alabama fans don't recognize 2007 as a Saban year.
ETA: But way to miss the point entirely.

Hiring a no name coach from South Dakota who just got blown out in the biggest game of his career is not too good

That’s my point. Are you trolling? 10 win seasons every three years. From Saban having 16 years in a row of 10 win seasons. You’re confirming my point without even realizing it. Bama has taken backward steps falling back to where they were pre- Saban

How about we look at the years just prior to Saban at Alabama:

It's absolutely amazing how obtuse some of you swamp scum are! You've gotta know that the LSU fans with an I.Q. over their shoe size have to wince when they see your names on threads around here.
You seem triggered

Bama was playing with one hand tied behind its back those years. Do you brag about beating up disabled people too?

Well, shite if Jordan Jefferson threw it better LSU might have been right in that game too.

Washington was flustered because they weren't used to facing good pass defenses.
The best pass defense they beat in 2023 was like #65.

No one cares that the LSU administration put basically zero effort into winning prior to 2000 when bringing up our win/loss record.

They’re all triggered and having trouble comprehending this.
I guess they’re fragile because deep down they know what’s about to happen.
They’ve never made a Final Four, they’ve never won a College World Series and now with Saban gone their football program has taken 5 steps backwards.
They’re crumbling. Certainly some difficult times ahead for these poor bastards.

Allow me to reiterate:
quote:
From 1982 to 2007, Alabama was...
...12-13-1 vs LSU.
...11-14-1 vs Auburn.
...10-16 vs Tennessee.
For a grand total of 33-43-2, with a win percentage of 44%, vs their 3 biggest rivals.

Only the Bamatards.

If your point is that all good things must come to an end then thanks for stating the obvious.

This remains to be seen.

I doubt Alabama will fall off a cliff but they need to understand that Alabama football, in and of itself, is no longer "special."
They don't have Saban and being a blue blood doesn't really matter any longer.
They are still an elite program though, just like any other elite program.

I don't think you'll find a single Alabama fan who believes we will find another coach who can win six national championships in 17 seasons for quite some time - if ever. What happened with Nick Saban at Alabama is unprecedented in the history of major college football. To believe it possible for it to happen again with the next man up would be delusional.

It’s over. The End
However, there isn't a single Alabama fan who believes this - myself included. It's not over.

Sure. It only took the complete overhaul and transformation of major college football into a glorified semi-pro league to do it. But sure.

Meh, this has been true for awhile. Saban just artificially extended that period for Alabama.
Being a blue blood hasn't actually given a team an advantage since probably the mid 90's.

Yeah, except for no.
quote:
The 1982 Alabama Crimson Tide football team (variously "Alabama", "UA" or "Bama") represented the University of Alabama in the 1982 NCAA Division I-A football season. It was the Crimson Tide's 88th overall and 49th season as a member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The team was led by head coach Bear Bryant, in his 25th and final year,
Way to include seasons outside the OP time frame.
Don’t bother to do any research.Include Sabans first year at Bama also to change the argument about UA without CPB and CNS.
I’ll quit before you dumb me down to your level.
