re: Will Auburn ever have the kind of depth needed to win when it matters?

This is pretty fricking pathetic.

Outside of a Fluke year in 2013 and a bought championship,
Please stop. They've won three SEC West Titles, two SEC Titles, a National Title, and played for a second National Title all in the last 8 seasons. Let's not act like they've not accomplished anything.

I thought they, like other top tier teams, had good depth, apparently I was wrong.
They played a #1, #1, and #6 ranked team in the CFB Playoff Rankings in a period of 22 days. "Only" winning 2 of those 3 games is not a symptom of depth issues.

With Kirby taking any cruits they might try for in Georgia and Saban taking the rest, will they ever get over the hump?
Auburn has their work cut out for them, that's for sure. But they've managed to hold their own for as long as anyone can remember despite being sandwiched between Alabama, Georgia, and even Florida and Florida State. I think they'll be just fine.
This post is embarrassing.

You will need to address this to the AU fans, lack of a RB and someone to replace Trigga are the two reason they claim they lost. That’s a depth issue.

LOL.. said another way... 10 of the last 13 it has been true? Not much of a qualifier at all.

Any program in America would be playing "warn out" after facing that gauntlet. Do I think Georgia is the better team? Absolutely. I'm not saying they would have won had they not faced such a tough gauntlet just prior to playing in the SEC Title Game. However, very few, if any, teams in America could have pulled off three wins in 22 days against Georgia, Alabama, and Georgia again.
Hell our own team didn't get through the Auburn/Kentucky/Tech/Auburn 22-day stretch unscathed... and we didn't play Alabama in the middle.
Please stop embarrassing us with this type of drivel.

It was an illusion. The team had the weakest OOC schedule and had its best win against a 4 loss tennessee.

2004 is a starting to get way back in time. It's like discussing 1994 in 2007. It's just not close to relevant when you get that far out.

Of course they have. But they still won 3 SEC West Championships in 8 seasons right smack in the midst of the Nick Saban era.
Subtracting 2 SEC Championships from an 8-year resume and then saying, "Hey look without these two years they've accomplished nothing" is just stupid.

You motherfrickers are too much. That 2004 team would sodomize any team UGA has put on the field this century.

You might not be saying that, but the AU fans are saying that..you appear to be an AU sycophant, not sure what you want from them but you’ve already gotten a few pats on the head from them so maybe that was it.

He's just an intelligent fan. I can't say that about most the other UGA fans showing their arse in this thread.

Were you one of the “we owned the LOS in game 1, that won’t change in 3 weeks” AU fans? You seem to like to talk, so I’d bet you were. And I’m sure Kyle is all flushed with pride after that pat on the head, he’s a good boy isn’t he..good dawgie.

They had the depth this year but their coach was too stupid to trust his other backs.

That is speculation.
What isn't speculation was the embarrassment of AU out of conference in 2003. With the lack of decent OOC scheduling in 2004, it was presumed by college football that it was an illusion.
If I remember correctly, AU got embarrassed OOC in 2005 as well, confirming the sentiment that 2004 was an illusion.
2004 was AU's own fault.
Either win the matchups in 2003 to let college football presume that you are legit (maybe you would have had the benefit of the doubt). Or schedule better in 2004 and win those games (based on the trend from 2003 and 2005, that may have been a reach).
