Why would a QB commit to a school where there is a TF starter?

And yes I'm talking about bama. Don't give me the "he wants to win championships" BS. He's an idiot if he's not focussed on his career as a QB. I'm not even advocating he go to LSU. Why not go somewhere like auburn where you'd be guaranteed the starting job and surrounded by good talent? His options:
1. Go to bama. Sit two years, getting no meaningful experience, then enter the nfl draft in 2021 or 22. Lose out on millions
2. Go somewhere else. Start your freshman or sophomore year and enter the draft in 2020 as a first round pick

It's not that bad getting your first start as a redshirt sophmore.

It may not be bad but is at good as getting it a year or two earlier?

Why would any quarterback go to lsu ever?

It's worth it if you have a good QB coach.

Because he'll be more developed riding the bench at Alabama than not having a solid offensive coordinator at LSU?!?

because every QB thinks they are better...and this is not a bad thing, confidence is extremely important in a QB (Brandon Harris wasn't and it killed him). As long as they don't cross in into cocky (JFF)

And there's a decent chance he can beat out Hurts.

Jake Fromm going to UGA is similar with Eason starting. Fromm could probably play from day 1 somewhere else but for whatever reason wants to go play at UGA abd get coached by the world renowned QB guru Jim Cheney and a defensive minded HC. He has a bright future...

I love the rant. Every single QB prospect coming out of high school is a starter as a freshman and leaving after 3 years.
Honestly, what is there like one qb a year who leaves after three years? Maybe two, in the whole country?

1. It's far from a certainty that Hurts will stay in school for all four years. From 2009-2015, there was a duel threat QB drafted in the first round every year except for 2014. If Hurts can improve as a passer, there's a good chance he will declare early and go high in the draft.
2. If Tua is as good as everybody says he is, he has a good shot at beating out Hurts for the starting QB job by his sophomore year.
3. Redshirting as a freshman and sitting two years is actually pretty normal. USC used to do it under Pete Carroll. Both John David Booty and Mark Sanchez redshirted their freshman year and sat for two years before taking over as the USC starter. And Bobby Bowden did it all the time at Florida State. Charlie Ward, Danny Kanell and Thad Busby all sat for their two years before taking over as the Florida State starter. That's the way things are usually done at powerhouse programs.

For that matter, why would any kid commit to a school with a full roster? I mean, they already have guys at the position you play!
