Outside of tRant a lot of fans wanted to give him another year and the players did as well which is at least a part of it and the other part we really don’t know for sure-culmination of different things.
Pittman came in when the Arkansas program was in shambles.
And in a short period of time he beat LSU, Texas, Missouri and aTm all in the same season. Something that had never been done before. Sometimes you just have to stand on integrity when you give a coach a contract extension.
In my eyes, Arkansas is a class act for giving Pittman another year.

Some people have short memories among other things.

I would've fired him on the spot after that home showing vs Missouri even if I had to let a grad transfer run the team until I found someone else.

I like Pittman. I wanted him to succeed.
A career position coach. Put kids in the league. And, by all accounts, all his former players cherish him.
Arkansas offered him a job he never dreamed was possible. It was heartwarming. Seeing that dude up on stage when he took the job, you could tell it was a dream for him. It meant a lot.
I'll be happy as hell if the guy can turn it around next year, but the odds of that happening are slim to none.
So we're basically just kicking the can down the road, unless a miracle happens and we win 8+ games next year.
I don't know if he could survive with 6/7 wins.
Just frustrating because of the horrendous offense due to the abysmal OL play this year. Something Pittman should have addressed before the season in recruiting.

By the third home game you will be able to shoot a 12 gage in the stadium and hit nothing more than air.
The team will have quit and the fans will be at the casino in Biloxi.

He needs to go 8-4 or better to get some fan confidence back.

I was at the game.
Arkansas was more worried about fighting than playing the game.

The end of the division era is going to provide some turmoil across the entire college football landscape.
Seems to me that a semblance of stability would be preferable until we all see how it all plays out.

Because the PTB at Arkansas won’t commit the money to fire him.
Their plan is to hire a new OC and possibly Oline coach and hope Pittman all of a sudden figures out how to be a good football coach.
Changing coaches and upping the NIL pool won’t help because Pittman himself is the problem.

That was more fight than they’ve shown all year. Hell, I say fight some more.

That ended up being a fluke season as he had inherited talent from Chad and had the element of surprise.
He fired his agent, hired Jimmy Sexton and had leverage to get a raise.
Arkansas began the 2022 season picked 3rd in the West but finished 5th.
Arkansas entered the 2023 season in SEC being picked 5th in the West but ended up finishing 7th.

I don't expect to have an SEC caliber OL within the year.
They would have to use a lot of NIL money to raid other teams and that isn't going to happen.

I'm thrilled they kept Double D, but they should have got the guy from Oregon State before Sparty did.

I’m starting to really hate you Missouri frickers.

I read an article that said Texas gives their O-Line a minimum of 50k per player.
Simply stated; if we can't afford that, we deserve to lose

There are some decent-good coaches out there this cycle. If I were Arky I would have fired Pittman and went and got Jedd Fisch.

Why was Pittman hired in the first place?

He’s a guy I’ve been looking at. I’d take him. He’s got a great name for the SEC, too.
